I received the iS Clinical Lip Duo without any obligation to review it. My opinion is based on my honest thoughts after using the products for several weeks.
This set includes two lip products- their lip polish and the Youth Lip Elixir. The Duo retails for $90 so it’s $8 cheaper than if you bought each product separately.
The polish is a sucrose based, very fine grit scrub with hydrating ingredients like Shea butter, olive oil, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil. It’s extremely gentle and meant to be used 1-2 times per week. You only need to apply a small amount to your lips then carefully use a circular motion to buff away dead skin. It felt nice to use and since it was so gentle, I didn’t experience over-exfoliation like I do with many other grittier lip polishes. You can purchase this alone for $38. I find that price extremely high since it’s .5 oz/15g and I feel like a washcloth or a soft toothbrush on my lips works just as well.
The Youth Lip Elixir claims to hydrate, plump and smooth lips, while also redefining the lip contour (vermillion border). The website claims it has immediate and long term benefits for your lips. You can use it as often as you want. For $60, you receive 0.12 oz/3.5g of product. For reference, that’s slightly less product than contained in a regular stick of lip balm/chapstick. You turn the bottom to dispense the product. It’s a thin white cream that applies easily and absorbs almost immediately. I don’t necessarily get a sense of hydration but it did seem to keep my lips moisturized overnight. I still felt like I needed to apply something more emollient and ended up alternating between this and other traditional lip balms. I have been using it for several weeks and haven’t noticed any change in the plumpness or contours of my lip border. I’m not sure how many times per day the product is supposed to be applied to get the type of results shown on the website. It’s nice and works well for days when my lips aren’t feeling super dry. I haven’t seen any benefits that would justify spending this much on a lip product. I’ll continue to use the entire amount and update my review if I see an improvements with longer use.
Overall, if I was going to splurge on self-care, these wouldn’t be the items I’d pick. While there was nothing wrong with them, they weren’t special enough to justify spending $90 on such a tiny amount of lip scrub and lip balm. Even the packaging didn’t look or feel as luxe as I’d have expected for that price.
