I use Ion Sensitive Scalp 10 vol Developer for all my hair dye needs. I bleach my hair at home and also tone. It's the best developer I have found. It doesn't burn my scalp and it's very easy on my hair. That's the most important thing when you DIY. I use what the product directions are, so you need to pay attention to that. Sometimes if I just want a smudge root I will mix with regular color instead of all over lay on. It so reasonably priced and it's a great product. I have experienced less breakage and brighter tones with this. I only use a 10 because I have light hair so you be the judge of what level you require. Definitely follow the directions. But this in my opinion is so gentle for a developer. It has Conditioning Wheat Protein and you can tell. The smell is not to strong at all!!!!!! My scalp and hair reacts great to this.
