The truth is that I love all the products from this brand, but this dye is what I like the most, it has quite good coverage and lasts between 8 to 15 washes and the dye does not oxidize, it leaves the hair shiny and does not has strong odors

Ion Permanent Cream Hair Color is the one you need if you are looking for a dark strawberry blonde or light copper shade with a TRUE red base. I usually choose shades with a Red-Gold (RG) base to maintain my beautiful copper blonde hair color but find they fade into a mostly blonde hue within a few washes before needing to be touched up or enhanced with a color glaze. I used this 8RC color blend with a 20v developer to lift and color my 7N roots. I let it process for 20 minutes before mixing the remaining color with Olaplex 3 and pulling through my lengths. Unlike the other red shades I’ve used with a Red-Gold base that process to an “orange-y” Ginger tone and quickly fade to dark blonde, this color mixture immediately took on my roots as a deeper, more vibrant red tone. The red is much more apparent in the hairline “halo” around my face and temples where my hair is naturally lighter. The roots in front took more deeply than the rest of my hair and initially looked a bit “hot” in comparison. However, the color payoff throughout is consistent, even, and looks very natural. It photographs well and looks pretty in all environments with all light settings. I typically use Level 8 colors with a 30v developer for maximum porosity and color lift but wanted to minimize damage with this color process by using a gentle 20v developer for sensitive scalp care. The result was a deeper color payoff that is holding tight! I have washed my hair several times with NO color fade. I even used a clarifying shampoo twice to see if any of the dark red pigment would lift a bit around my face to no avail. This is the honestly best long lasting red hair color I have ever used and the only one that provides ZERO color fade after multiple washes with daily heat styling. I love the color but must state it is not a lighter strawberry blonde. It reads as a mid-copper red in all lighting EXCEPT bright outdoor light. This is not the color you want to reach for if you want a more blonde shade or do not truly want a true copper hair color. In the future, I will definitely rely on Ion for my red color shades that do not fade!
