Marriage can be a real killer. One of the most critically acclaimed suspense writers of our time, New York Times bestseller Gillian Flynn takes that statement to its darkest place in this unputdownable masterpiece about a marriage gone terribly, terribly wrong. The Chicago Tribune proclaimed that her work "draws you in and keeps you reading with the force of a pure but nasty addiction." Gone Girl's toxic mix of sharp-edged wit and deliciously chilling prose creates a nerve-fraying thriller that confounds you at every turn. On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife's head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media-as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents-the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter-but is he really a killer? As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn't do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet? With her razor-sharp writing and trademark psychological insight, Gillian Flynn delivers a fast-paced, devilishly dark, and ingeniously plotted thriller that confirms her status as one of the hottest writers around. see more...

This book keeps you holding your breath the entire time. I love everything Gillian Flynn writes and am I patiently waiting for her to write more books. The storyline is awesome and the book has so many twists and turns.
Gillian Flynn is an amazing writer! She really captured the backstory and details of every character so well. It was such a well written page turner of a book and left me completely shocked on every page. This is a must read thriller!
Gillian Flynn is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! If you like your novels a little dark and twisted then read all her books! This one as well as Sharp Objects are both great! Full of suspense and twists and turns.
Whatever you do, read this before watching the movie!! This is a great book to get into reading... it’s suspenseful and you won’t be able to put it down to see what this woman is up to next!
This book it ab absolutely shocking page-turner. Be sure to keep your schedule free for an entire day because once you start reading i5 you won't be able to stop until you finish it.
This book has got to be one of my favorites. It's a very suspenseful book with a lot of twist and turns. I love the way it is set up by diary entries of different characters so you get different perspectives of the characters. The movie was AWFUL compared to the book, it left out sooo many things. The book is truly better than the movie. I'd recommend any of this author's books (there are 3). LOVE LOVE LOVE
As a member of three book clubs, I've read Gone Girl for each and every one of them, and I've never seen a book divide people so much. It's one of those you either love or hate. There's not really much room for much else. I personally have a love hate relationship with Gone Girl for a number of reasons.
Loved this book! If you are into mysteries, this is a great read! The best part is if you love to read a book and then watch a movie, this book is now a movie! Always read the book first though! I have the hard cover and it is quite sturdy. I definitely recommend this book in the hard cover edition. :)
This book makes the list of ones I ALWAYS recommend. It's Gillian's Flynn's best - offering suspenseful twists and turns from alternate character perspectives and leaving the reader continuously wanting more. The movie, on the other hand, is likely not worth your time.
This book was unbelievable. It reinstated a love of reading after a VERY long drought. The characters are compelling, the story keeps you hooked at EVERY turn. Gillian Flynn has two more full novels (Sharp Objects and Dark Places) and they were also incredible. She also wrote a short story which was an AMAZING read. Don't pass her up!

Looking for more authors similar to Gillian Flynn. I've read The Girl on the Train as well as Pretty Girls by Karen Slaughter. I've also read all of Gillian Flynn's other books. I would consider horror in this category. There is nothing better than fall candles and a good, creepy book!
I've read a lot of good things about gone girl. Do you think I should give it a try? Is it easy to read and does it have a sad ending? Does it has an open ending?
