Listen, everyone who has watched this show is very aware of the clusterf*ck that is the later seasons, more specifically the final season. I don't want to beat a dead horse because there are THOUSANDS of written and video reviews relating to the backlash. It was bad. I also want to keep the books separate from the show, so I will not be mentioning them. For those who haven't watched the show, I still want to recommend it, because the first four seasons are exceptional TV! Truly, some of the most well written plots and characters, that you can relate to other people and events in history because, despite it being set in a fantasy world, it's a realistic portrayal of humans and politics. It's famous for also having some of the most unexpected moments in TV and movie history, but what really makes it worth watching is seeing how they weave a story with the complexities of people and the consequences of their actions in a way that is compelling. The writing begins to waver beginning with season 5, but there are still great moments, and were entertaining to watch. Halfway through season 7, it became hard to defend the show, but I still found myself tuning in, and waiting to see how it concluded because I was so invested in the characters of this story. Yes, it did not end well. I have tons of criticism, but despite it, I still love the earlier years of the show, and want people to see them.

First things first, it's very geeky. It's got kings and knights, crowns and swords, dragons and ghosts. Medieval drama is a genre we get precious little of on television (or in movies, for that matter), and Game of Thrones has nearly 10 hours of it. Plus, the series of books boasts fans who are as serious about the happenings in Westeros – where most of the book's action takes place – as any hardcore Trekkie or Star Wars geek is about those sagas. 2. The story is compelling. Befitting an incredibly popular series, the books are packed with chapter after chapter that abruptly end in cliffhangers. The dialogue is often funny, acerbic and sometimes even heart-breaking. Though the books are as thick as phone directories, the story moves quickly, and it's almost guaranteed to surprise you. In all my years of reading, seldom has a plot twisted so suddenly that I am shocked enough to say something like "Holy —-" out loud. A Song of Ice and Fire has done that to me many times, and HBO's adaptation looks to follow. 3. The characters come first. Even if you're not someone who likes fantasy, you will enjoy Game of Thrones, because it's not so much a fantasy tale as it is an outstanding character-driven drama that just happens to be set in a fantasy setting. Westeros, the land where the series takes place, is a dog-eat-dog place where most people are playing the angles and looking out for themselves. The end result is a very tangled web of deceit, power plays and intrigue, which should make for an infinitely watchable show. 4. Game Of Thrones is based on really great writing. Martin weaves an incredibly complex story that encompasses thousands of miles, dozens of characters and a history that spans thousands of years. Yet, it's easy to follow and just as compelling to read. To tempt you further, Martin was called "the American Tolkien" by Time Magazine. This is mentioned not to start a flame war or suggest he is the be-all, end-all of fantasy, but to illustrate how good his writing is. Further, Martin is credited, along with executive producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss, as a writer of the series. 5. HBO does a better job at this kind of thing than anyone else. Look at the track record: If there's one thing HBO does better than anyone else, it's original dramas. Band of Brothers, The Sopranos, The Wire, Oz, Deadwood, John Adams, Six Feet Under, True Blood – this list only scratches the surface of the great dramas HBO has brought to the small screen. What's more, with some of the mature content in Game Of Thrones, it's tough to imagine the show being on network television or anywhere else. 6. All signs point to faithful adaptation. Martin has been deeply involved with the production since the beginning and – if you read Martin's blog - his excitement is contagious. Plus, the set photography, the images of the cast, the behind-the-scenes vignettes and, most recently, the wallpaper images that depict some of the major locations of the story all show that the series creators really understand what the book is about. That will, hopefully, lead to very good things. Heck, the producers even hired someone to invent an authentic language for the Dothraki. It seems no shortcuts are being taken. 7. The series was given a proper budget. With estimates at nearly $60 million for 10 episodes, expect big things on the small screen. And while GoT's budget is somewhat average for a big production series, the fact that HBO committed these resources toward an unproven show says a lot about the network's confidence of success. Early shots of sets, special effects and the cast show the money is being well spent.

This show was good but I liked the books much better and am down right mad that George R.R. Martin took time away from writing his last two books of the series to help HBO produce this. But aside from that casting was dead on and the characters were exactly as the book had made me imagine them...that said the the television production left out a lot of important things from the books but the show was easier to keep the characters and their positions in the court as well as their houses and house alliances straight. I still cried when Ned Stark was beheaded, still cried when John Snow got Ghost, still cried when John Snow gave Arya Stark Needle and said good bye leaving for the wall with Uncle Benjin, still deapised Danerys Tarjean and her brother even though you find out that he and Ned's sister were in love and actually wanted to be married...was shocked when I realized John Snow was not Ned's bastard but Ned told Kaytlin that and everyone else to protect his nephew...since he would be the last male Targean alive and the rightful heir to the Iron Throne...and I still fell in love with Tyrion Lannister because he is cleaver and fell in love with his brother the Kingslayer...Jamie Lannister because in book 3 he fell in love with Brianne of Tarth...I did love that they almost actually made it as a couple but Jamie changed his mind and could not give up his twin sister Cerci...even though she is pure EVIL and defiantly the Spawn of Satan...and even if going to her was almost assuredly certian death...I was SHOCKED when John killed Danerys...and when he left Ghost with the Wildlings from beyond the wall. THIS SHOW MAY NOT BE AS GOOD AS THE BOOKS, BUT IT IS STILL GREAT AND VERY MUCH ENTERTAINING AND WPRTH WATCHING.

Omg!! I shouldn’t be writing a review of this show.... not THIS one! I will write forever! All I can say is.... HOOKED! ONE EPISODE, HOOKED..... I didn’t begin watching it when it first aired, it was already about 4 seasons in.... but I marathon watch all 4 seasons in one solid weekend. In all I’ve watched the show in its entirety about 8 times..... and STILL CRAVE MORE! People of the world who went ape-s%^t over this show outnumbered the people who had never seen it.... like me! Yes, I thought they were all nuts and needed something better to do with their lives rather than rambling excessively about one dang TV show!!?! I remember it all too well when I joined them. My husband and I got into one of our petty arguments (probably about who was going to wash the dishes..?). It was a Friday night and he got mad and went to bed. I got mad and went to Walmart. I bought one thing..... GOT Season 1. I ended up going back the next day for the next few seasons.... and making that quick trip HURT.... because I was so hooked! Best show HANDS DOWN I’ve ever seen. I absolutely love sci-fi and fantasy, but I have many friends who hate the genre but LOVE the show! Needless to say, my husband lost that argument if he went to bed trying to make me feel lonely. Actually I believe he may be the only person I know that doesn’t particularly care for the show too much! Lol  Game of Thrones

It was my ever first experience to see the English TV Series .But I think it's matchless TV series and best cinematic achievement ever. Great storytelling and character development combined with amazing visuals. Every frame is a work of art, almost every frame is a masterpiece. Overall, this show is simply beyond compare. In Game of Thrones, you will find everything you want, from the importance of family, to politics, to brutal, realistic war, romance and so much more. The character development, costumes, plot and twists are on point and simply phenomenal. The storyline is full of unpredictable surprises which leave you scratching your head and craving for more. Every season has its own set of twists and turns which keeps the audience entertained, thrilled and glued to the screen till the last episode. Also, it's though it falls under the fantasy genre it has great humor, good action seen, plenty of romance, humongous amount of politics and lots more. Although in season 8 the ending was quite tragic but seems realistic. It's definitely a must watch show and shouldn't be missed #gameofthrones

I know that Game of Thrones is a very popular television show for its dramatic writing and thematic elements and characters. I'm in the minority of thinking, and I know that. I just didn't see the fascination. If I was warned by everyone before watching it that everyone dies, why would I get invested in liking any of the characters? I also think that Khaleesi was a nightmare character with no real drive or reason for any of her actions throughout the series. I don't see her as inspirational, and I could never imagine even having a conversation with her. I often found myself thinking it was being brutal for the sake of being brutal (Sansa and Ramsay, excess the r word and m word, etc.). I understand this may be what some fans love about it, but I just don't get it. I've tried rewatching the whole series, and I still feel the same way. There are way better options on HBO than this, and they are way less annoying to keep track of.

Game of Thrones was a cultural phenomenon. I started watching during the second season. After watching about 6 or 7 episodes of the 1st season I was hooked! A lot of people give up after the pilot if it isnt great but there was too much chatter for me to give up & I was glad I didn't. I do enjoy fantasy adventure but this also added in a lot of messy love, strategy & gore. I'll never regret being introduced to the Mother of Dragons and watching such interesting character development for the Lannisters & others. The author who wrote the book series has a way of writing layer upon layer upon layer of plot Game of Thrones and somehow connecting them all in such an intriguing way. The way the author writes we could've had 10 plus seasons of this show. The ending of the series was not the perfect bow a lot of us had hoped for but one thing we all can agree on is boy did we ever enjoy the ride!!!

If you are someone who believes in the mantra “its about the journey and not the destination,” enjoy shows set in medieval times, and like a dash of magic then this show is for you. When it comes to game of thrones it’s biggest strength lies in the relationships the characters have. We experience their lives as they grow and change and most likely die. It’s the fact that the shoe gives you real loss by killing off big characters that makes the stakes seem big. It’s what allows us as fans to really enjoy retribution. Jut prepare yourself for a final season that will underwhelm you. With backtracking in character development there is very little to enjoy about how the show actually ends. Except for one thing, but you’ll have to watch and see.

This is another of my all time favorite shows. My boss loaned me the first season to watch and I got hooked and binge watched 4 seasons within a few weeks. It's sad, but true. The plot is really great and I love that they have different story lines within the show. Also, Jon Snow 😍❤😍❤ Kit Harrington is my hollywood crush for sure because of this show. All of the actors are phenomenal and perfect for their roles. There is great graphics and beautiful scenery throughout the entire series. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the last season was really disappointing and seemed to be thrown together hastily, even though we had to wait 2 years for it to air.

This was a fantastic book series turned show. It's like J.K Rowling, you wonder how one person (George R. R. Martin) can come up with such a world. Such diverse characters. He put so much into each individual character. Not many people can write a book series with so many main characters. He's a fantastic author. The TV show is just as good. Of course they left out a lot but that's okay, they put in enough. I'm sure we all know how the tv series ended. I was very disappointed. That's what happens though when the writers don't have material from the author. George was the writer behind the tv show and why it was so good. I wish it wouldn't have flopped, it was a masterpiece.
