Yes, yoga is good for your mind and body. It helps build lean muscle when practiced 3 or more times a week, helps relieve stress, and gives you relaxation and breathing techniques to use in your daily life. If you're not sure about whether or not you're ready to buy an expensive mat, I would recommend getting one @ Walmart (they sell them for as low as $5). When and if you are ready for a good quality mat that will last forever, check out Manduka. I've had a pro for years and it is the best.
