Nope!! I think that the only reason this book series blew up as much as it did was because there wasn't much in the genre out there at the time and E. L James had a good publicist. This book was horribly written and did not represent that "alternate lifestyle" very well. It glamorized an mentally abusive relationship and the characters were way to codependent in my opinion. There are a bunch if authors who write in the same genre (ie: Sylvia Day) that, when you read them, you won't feel like your IQ has dropped. I bought the box set thinking that these books were going to be fantastic. I wasn't impressed by the first, I hoped that the second would be better and that James would have picked up a few writing tips after the first but I was wrong. The third, I only read because I already paid for it and felt that I had too but, I barely got through it and it took me about a month to read. I normally read a novel this size in two days. I would not recommend this series and would tell you that if you liked this genre then you should read the Crossfire series instead.

The books were all great . I couldn't get myself to set them down . There were some parts where the writing was just basic . Then there were other where the author would be sending shivers down your spine ! Great book for both men and women

I enjoyed this book and agree with the other women who also enjoyed the book but hated the movie version of it. Not the best of the best in the world of written erotica or romance fiction but nonetheless, a good read. The book was steamy at times, the movie... NOT! I wish I hadn't seen the movie even after hearing all the negative reviews; there was zero chemistry or passion on screen but I think that can be attributed to the lousy casting. In my opinion, stick with the book and don't watch the movie.

Okay so I am not going to lie, I skimmed the entire first 100 or so pages until I saw the first mention of anything I was expecting from this genre. Now don't get me wrong, the bedroom antics were well written and worth the read, but the story line was AWFUL, the characters were weak and unbelievable and it read more like a story of two unstable people emotionally abusing each other than a healthy consenting adult relationship. There are better stories out there in this genre.

Don't wanna sound too s*xual or wrong, but this is truly the best seductive book! We girls have desires and this book portrays those desires! A guy who is just a f**kboy falls in love and how their story becomes strong from a fragile relationship!! I do recommend girls a over age 18 to read it cause you will be blown away with s*xiness and you will get butterflies in your stomach as you read some of the scenes!

I really liked this book series. It opened up a world that I didn't know much about. It was great way to fantasize without actually reenacting any scenes. It actually has a storyline and isn't all just sexual. A wide variety of my friends read it too, people of all ages and both sexes.
