Im an adult woman who is afraid of the dark. pathetic, i know. but i grew up going to campouts with one of those old yellow flashlights with the giant 6v battery and that was it. growing up and seeing technology progress i cant imagine using a cheapo light anymore. you cant work or travel at night if you cant see. and you cant trust your phone flashlight, what if you run out of battery and need to call police? (if/when you have service)
i take this with me everywhere if im going to be out at night. fits in my purse and if im walking at night it fits in my jeans pocket or on my waistband if i have no pockets. it uses type C charging instead of something proprietary, meaning you can easily charge it with a phone charger or whatever, many things are switching to type C. the battery lasts a long time and you could buy extras if youre really gonna be out somewhere.
i used to carry pepper spray, tasers, 9mm etc. those all have their place and i do open carry sometimes still but you cant take a gun everywhere or hide it very well depending on what youre wearing, i have also learned that i am way more comfortable holding an extremely durable and bright flashlight. you can easily blind someone, and the strobe is sickening if you have the muscle memory to turn that mode on. ive accidentally dropped this on turbo mode and the beam grazed my eyeball, WOW you can really damage someones vision with this. would also work as a blunt weapon to hit someone so you can run away.
scary we have to live in a world that i need to prepare myself for such situations. but i trust this light with my life and sleep with it next to me, knowing i have reliable light whenever i need it. whether im taking my dog out or walking to my truck in a dark parking lot im usually holding it. as you can see in the picture it is dirty and scratched from heavy use. i wrapped some vinyl on mine so i can find it in my purse easier.
ill be trying other fenix lights after how happy i am with this. what a nice and essential tool for anyone to have. its worth the price
Nice refined light, the quality of the machining can be felt immediately upon grabbing hold of it. Nice fit and finish. Also super bright, i work on the road and one night there were no supplied lights on the job site. We tried using our dually's brights to illuminate the road but quickly did away with that as my flashlight was easily 10x as bright. It's a flashlight to show and tell to your buddies, and probably practical in many applications, but for the most part most people don't need anything this bright. A Mag lite only puts out ~160 lumens. But definitely a quality light that i think is worth the money. But be carefull because of the heat.
