It says it cleans your hair without water, absorbs excess oil, & is for ALL hair types and guess what? It totally works! My hair is no joke and virtually nothing works on it. Hairspray doesn't hold, leave-in's make me greasy, curling products don't work, and if I don't have my John Frieda shampoo and conditioner my hair throws the tantrum of the century.
Don't even get me started on maintance, I will fully admit that it's common for me to go three days without washing my hair because to blow dry and straighten it every day would never happen, it's such a long ordeal for my wild, thick, full maine.
With that said, the concept of dry shampoo always seemed way too good to be true. On my day three of not washing I definetly am not a huge fan of how it looks. It's doable, but certainly not day one or two hair. A product that can get you through that third day looking better than it normally should would be awesome. My hair though, it's thick, there's tons of it, and it responds to nothing, so it certainly wouldn't magically look better because I sprayed an aerosol can at it. This is 100% what I thought, so I never bought one. I was so wrong. This stuff is magic in a can!
I think for me, because my hair is so thick and stubborn I would go through more than most faster than most, so I would definetly need a larger can. The smell is ok, at first I didn't really like it too much, but it sort of grew on me and now I think I do; weird I know. It does what it's supposed to though! My hair almost instantly went from flat and sort of greasy to much lighter, fuller, and dryer; it was astonishing and amazing. This is probably the best new product I've tried in a VERY long time and I'm pretty excited it exsists. lol If it works on my hair I can't imagine it won't work on everyone's; I totally and completely recommend it to all. =)
I picked up this particular product because I already have there 10 in 1 Hair Primer as well as their Therapy Session Hair Mask, so I thought I would try out their dry shampoo this time.
First of all, THIS PACKAGING THO! It's not only gorgeous and eye-catching but it's perfect for Summer too!
The scent of the product is nice, just your typical dry shampoo smell.
And it's really easy to use. Directions on the can: Shake the can before use. Hold 10-12 inches away from your scalp and spray lightly for even coverage. Use your fingertips to massage the product through your hair. Style as desired.
I thought that it did a pretty decent job of getting rid of oils. I have fine hair so I think if this dry shampoo were to have more of a powdery finish, I think it would be able to absorb oils better on my scalp.
I only paid 99 cents for this! How did I do it? A while back I posted about the deal I found thanks to Tina @freestufffinder. Certain @evahairnyc products had a rebate tag on them so I picked up some @evahairnyc products and when I got home from @ultabeauty I mailed in my rebate card and receipt and then got a coupon for $9 off an @evahairnyc product in the mail. The dry shampoo was $11.99 and I used my $9 off coupon plus a $2 coupon that was attached to the dry shampoo, making it only 99 cents!
Have you guys tried @evahairnyc Freshen Up Dry Shampoo? If not, what's your favorite dry shampoo?
I followed the instructions on the dry shampoo and sprayed it on my hair and comb it out but my hair still looked oily. I gave it couple more tries but every time I was disappointed. Also if you are sensitive to sprays and fragrance then this is definitely not the right product for you. In all I would not recommend this dry shampoo.
That being said...I have very dark CURLY hair so it is incredibly difficult for me to find a dry shampoo that doesn't leave my hair looking....grey. I emphasize curly because the resolution for the "grey" is to brush it out to distribute evenly. No...No...rule #1 of curly hair is do not brush. So this is why it is incredibly difficult for me to 1. find and 2. truly enjoy a dry shampoo.
Eva Nyc Freshen Up Dry Shampoo was the first nearly translucent one I have found. There was still some very slight hardly noticeable color from the spray (I'm probably the only one that even noticed) but it was leaps and bounds better than any other one I've tried. And the scent is pleasant.
I give it 4 stars because someone out there has got to come up with a dry shampoo for really dark hair without leaving some slight hint that maybe we used a dry shampoo today.
