I had high hopes for this product.
Considering the cumbersome shape, the unnecessarily awkward packaging & the inexplicably inflated price tag though, it’s still a wildly popular lip balm. I figured there must be something special about it.
Not really. Unlike every other lip balm that’s either packaged in a retractable dispenser (like Chapstick), a tube (like Blistex), or in .5oz jars or pots (like Carmex & Burt’s Beeswax), this Eos is unique & not exactly in a good way. Because they touted their natural ingredient, I expected it to have a pleasant, fruity flavor and a rich, fragrant aroma. It had only the faintest hint of a scent and the flavor was barely detectable, next-to nonexistent.
Eos is packaged in an almost perfectly round sphere & although the packaging may be unique and its colors, cute and eye-catching, it’s completely gratuitous— 100% window dressing. The design serves no earthly purpose at all & the awkward design only gives it a number of significant drawbacks.
The problem with that (other than portability and over-inflated cost) is the consistency. It’s not retractable like Chapstick (where you dispense a little bit, use it, then twist the bottom to dispense some more).
Due to the packaging, once you open it, 75% of the product is exposed at all times. Due to this fact, Eos lip balm has to be harder than it would ordinarily need to be, just to hold onto its shape & not turn to mush when you press it against your lips.
It’s not portable either. It’s like the difference between carrying a thin, flat pack of gum vs a big, bulbous “Everlasting Gobstopper”. You can’t simply slip it into your pocket & bring it on the go, plus the cap is awkward to open. You can’t open/close it one-handed and if you fumble & drop it on the ground, or (god forbid) onto the floor of a public bathroom while trying to get the cap on/off, you’ve just wasted $7.
When you get to the point where more than half the “ball” of lip balm is used up, the ball is gone, and you’re left with a .5oz pot of lip balm, stored in a clumsy golf ball-sized dome. When approximately 70% is used up & the product is flush with the packaging, you’ve got no choice but to apply with your fingers or use a lip brush.
If it had cost 99¢, I would have just thrown it away at that point, but because I paid closer to $6 or $7 (and for that reason alone) I was committed to using every last bit of it.
If you take into account the price compared with the quality of these products, you’ll realize you are being cheated. On one hand, I understand the hype, when I was younger all I wanted in life was an eos lip balm. Everyone had them and I was so stuck on the popularity that when I finally bought one, I completely ignored how terrible of a lip balm it truly is. Firstly, THEY. DONT. FIT. IN. MY. POCKET. Aren’t lip balms supposed to be something that a person can easily grab and go? Well not in this case. The cute little shape of these suckers make them so difficult to stuff into the average female pocket and when you finally get it in there, it looks stupid as it sticks out. Secondly, why is it clumpy? Why? Is? It? Clumpy? If you are a chronic dry, chapped lips individual such as myself you’ll understand that it is crucial for lip balms to go on smoothly. Eos balms, in my experience, do not go on smoothly. Lastly, they are a scam! When you first wear them you feel hydrated and chapped up but after a mere hour or so, wave goodbye to that hydration. I swear the moisture just runs away from my lips so quickly compared to other well known lip balm brands. So in conclusion, yes they smell good, yes they look cute, but practical? NOPE.
Your brand has never let me down, I have used some comparison brands and they have not even come close in quality. The reason why I buy your brand is because I know you deliver a stellar product every time Your product has had such a positive impact on my life in many different ways that I would love to try some of your other products. Would you be willing to send me some samples? I would be so excited and would love to spread more positive feedback both online and to my friends and family!

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond if you can! eos™ Visibly Soft Lip Balm Vanilla Mint
Lets move on to formula because that's the best part.... its unlike any other lip balm i've ever used in that when i use it - it actually makes my lips feel hydrated when its all rubbed off. I don't tend to have to over do it with this lip balm because the formula is so amazing it leaves my lips feeling moisturized long after its gone! with other lip balms i feel like i constantly need to keep applying to keep my lips moist .... thank you so much eos for always having my back,.. you a real one!!!
It just fell SO flat for me on my expectations. First the flavor was just not there, I was expecting a throwback to my lip smackers of my youth with a flavorful lip balm. The scent was strong so the flavor had to come with that right? Boy was I wrong! I was so disappointed it tasted like castor oil and wax.
Second the texture- it was hard and applied in a very thin layer like a dry lipstick. I was expecting a smooth creamy lip balm- this is a lip balm right? It made my lips almost feel dry and grainy.
I couldn’t figure out why these are so popular aside from the adorable packaging. I will say the package is fun and cute and so that part deserves at least a star.
I had to throw mine out I was so disappointed that it didn’t do anything for my lips at all :(
Yes, they have unique flavors, but with the way people were talking about these lip balms, I thought they would save my lips in the dead of winter when they were cracking and bleeding. NOPE! Not even close. I had to apply it every hour and it's lucky I was using a purse at the time because they're not easy to carry in a pocket. If you drop them, good luck finding them. I dropped one in my room and I swear it rolled into the abyss and I never found the thing, even when I moved out.
Be careful if you have dogs and/or cats because your pets will have a new, fun toy! For some reason, dogs find these lip balms pretty tasty.
