I recently purchased these in Pink Petal, Nude Nectar and Crimson Crush. As with most lip stains, these are drying on the lips and I definitely recommend that you exfoliate your lips well before applying and top these with a gloss or another lip product to keep them from looking overly dry and cracking on the lips. These are extremely affordable, and come in a decent range of colors. Although I do not personally have a problem with these feathering out into the fine lines around my lips, a great trick to use if you do have this issue is to line the area around your lips with Vaseline before applying and allowing the stain to completely dry before removing the Vaseline, this will act as a barrier to prevent the stain from going outside of your lip line. Another tip I have found is to store these upside down to prevent the marker from drying out prematurely. I've had mine for two weeks, stored upside down from day one and have no issues with the marker drying out. I have included photos of myself wearing Crimson Crush topped with the E.L.F high shine intense gloss in Crushed Berry, it was a beautiful look and I loved that the stain acted as a bit of lip insurance. I did not have to fuss with my lip color, worry about transfer or that my lips would look blotchy or weird because I knew that if my gloss did transfer I still had color beneath. I wore this for a total of around 5 hours with no touch ups and it looked beautiful with a bit of a goth vibe.
This products very inexpensive. I'm not the hugest fan of the packaging just because it does look really cheap with the plastic and honestly it just looks like a felt-tip marker which can really turn people off. That being said though the product itself works really well. I love how fine of a tippet has and if you want to work in a larger space just going up a little bit on the product with your lips does the trick. It stains really well I have tried several shades that worked well and we're true to color. Not a lot of color selection in the range which is disappointing. But the biggest downfall of this product is that a dries out extremely quickly. It's only a few dollars so I understand the pack jeans really cheap but on top of the facts of the packaging is really cheap the product just dries out runs out so quickly you'd have to repurchase this item so much you would end up paying the equivalent of a more expensive lip stain so I really would love to see them either improve the packaging that might help it not dry out as much or improve the formula if that seems to be the case without losing the rest of the good qualities.

e.l.f. normally has awesome products for very little money, which I love (duh!). So when I saw this lip stain for only a dollar at Dollar General, I was like "Huh well let's try it out." So I put it on my lips, I took many applications to get a rich color, and because my lips were not fully hydrated (let's be real, they were chapped) it made them look cracked and UGLY. Needless to say, I never use that stuff. It's sitting in a drawer, alone, never to see the light of day again.... Sorry friends, this is not THE lip stain.

I found this lip stain at the Dollar Tree. Recognized the named and thought what the heck? Let's give it a try. I like the color a lot. It's the first lip stain I've used. I'm more of lip stick girl, but I like it well enough. It took a while to build up the color and I had to be really careful or it looked splotchy. It took about 5 minutes of effort to get a look I'd get with a lip stick in less. That's the only thing I dislike about this product. But if you're willing to put in the extra time and effort it's worth it.

This product is definitely worth the price. I spent around 2 dollars on this and I would not have spent more. It's not very even and ends up being splotchy. The color is very pretty and pairs well with a lot, on the bright side. The only way I have been able to make it work somewhat is if I put Burt's Bees Original Chapstick on after I do about two layers on the stain first as a base. Otherwise, it's hard to work with.

I didnt like this product as much as i love other elf products ive been using elf for six years now and this is my least favorite product very dry when you open it hard tip not like a sponge texture more like a stone! I think mine was 6 bucks or under so i mean you get what you pay for but on the good side when you get one thats not dried out the color is really nice the dark red one does seem to rub off but you can still tell its there

Mine was a bright red. Honestly expected better and it does have that marker like stain brush but maybe I just didn't know it would be a product I sorta regret. nothing too special about it. I never reach for it tbh. Wish I stuck with a creamy lippy or one of their lipsticks even! I wouldn't really recommend. maybe if it wasn't with a marker head it would be cooler with a felt tip? Not sure. Just missed the mark but I still love elf!!!
I thought that I would like this lip stain a lot more than I did, honestly, I was quite disappointed after purchasing and trying it. The marker-like design of this lip stain is really neat and a super cool idea, but the tip was so thin that it took way too long to apply to my lips, it also made it difficult to evenly distribute. The lip stain does stay on very well though. The reason I rated so low is because, personally, I did not think that the colors were as dark or bright as they should/could have been. After i applied , it was as if I had nothing on my lips at all. I applied multiple times to try to fix this problem, but it then was just a dull, crayon looking color spread across my lips. It really looked awful.

I LOVE this product! As a singer I’ve had my fair share of stage kisses, and the worst thing is trying to find a lip product that won’t end up all over your stage partner. I bought this lip stain for a show last May, and this product made it through several stage kisses, didn’t budge, and removed easily with a makeup wipe! Definitely recommend!
Hated this product. It was like trying to color with a marker that was half dry. Super streaky, felt very tight on my lips, and was just overall a cheap quality. Lasted about 4 hours before I had to reapply. Would not recommend to anyone.
Q & A
A lot of lip stains make my lips feel dried out. How does this one compare?
Do these stay on well? I just want a little bit of color that will last for at least 8 hours.
Do they dry out quickly?
Are these lip stains matte or glossy? And how do they actually last?
Do you like this lip stain? Does it last long? Thank you.
