The thing about Angel of Darkness is that every single issue with it could have been avoided with more time. The scope of what Core Design was trying to achieve is on par with modern day games - a skill tree, dialogue choices, etc - however due to time constraints and a publisher that cared more about the money than the product the game ended up a buggy disaster. The storyline of Angel of Darkness is out there compared to the Tomb Raider’s that came before it, taking a path that feels at times more closely related to Resident Evil. Angel of Darkness would’ve been better as a new series with a new protagonist away from the Tomb Raider brand, more time for the developers to actually finish it, and for it to embrace the survival horror element. It’s frustrating that Angel of Darkness is such a.mess, it could’ve so easily been a total game changer.
