It's a great product from a company that has a conscious about the environment. They didn't just jump on the bandwagon either, they always chose the high road. Works great and worth every penny.

I love every Ecover product I've tried. Always safe and effective. This dish soap is great for my hand wash dishes- just as effective as conventional dish soaps.

Ecover has to be the best brand for washing up liquid, that I have ever used! A small amount is needed to cut through grease and grime, and it smells great too! Not the cheapest washing up liquid available but definitely one of the best I’ve ever used. Also works well at cleaning makeup brushes as it breaks down all the oils, and leaves bristles super soft. Highly recommend.

I
have long been a fan of Ecover washing-up liquid. The
bottle is made from a slightly thicker plastic than is usual for washing-up
liquid containers. So it is very durable and less likely to split. It also has
a screw-off cap made from hard-wearing plastic. It might seem strange that such
an item is made to last, but this is intentional, as the bottles are meant to
be refilled, thus reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. My local
health shop offers this service, which is also cheaper than buying a new
bottle. But should you wish to dispose of your bottle, it is fully recyclable.
It is also made from a combination of recycled plastic and Plantplastic, which
is derived from sugarcane, so has a lower environmental impact than other
brands.

The
cleverly designed cap actually does what it is designed for (which is no mean
feat when it comes to this type of product) and actually reduces the number of
drips and spills of washing-up liquid. However, the indentation around the
nozzle is prone to build up of detergent residue. But I have found this easy to
clean up with a damp sponge.

The
liquid is clear and has a good consistency – it is neither too thick nor too
thin. It has a subtle scent, which is far less harsh and chemical in nature
than many of its competitors. I would say it was more herbal than floral. As a
result, I don’t have to worry about the smell tainting anything I might serve
on my plates. It produces a good amount of lather and doesn’t require a huge
amount of liquid to get good results. A small squirt is enough to wash a
reasonable number of plates or to wash even the most heavily soiled oven trays
and pans. It leaves my cups, plates and glassware squeaky clean. I have found
it particularly effective when used neat on heavier stains such as burnt on
food or cooking sauces. I simply squeeze some on and rub with a sponge scourer (making
sure to give it plenty of elbow) before rinsing under running water. In
addition, it is very good when used to pre-soak heavily-stained items. Not only
that, but it is very mild – I normally wear rubber gloves whenever I do the
washing-up, but on the few occasions I have washed items without them, this
detergent hasn’t caused the eczema on my hands to flare up. Because the product
is so mild, I have used it on a damp cloth to clean the oak worktops in my
kitchen. It is very effective at removing dirt and debris, without removing the
wax coating on the wood. I have also used it diluted to clean the vinyl
flooring in my kitchen, with excellent results.

One
of the reasons I really like Ecover washing-up liquid is that it contains far
fewer harsh chemicals than many of its competitors. A lot of the nasty
ingredients used by other companies have been replaced by less harmful, more
sustainable and biodegradable contents, which results in a much lower
environmental impact both at the point of production and in use. In addition,
none of the products or their ingredients are tested on animals, although the
Camomile and Marigold variant contains milk whey, so isn’t suitable for vegans
to use. However, it isn’t entirely chemical-free, so there is some level of
toxicity for aquatic life, when it finally makes it into the water ecosystem.

In
terms of value for money, Ecover Camomile and Marigold Washing-Up Liquid
performs well. If bought in the one litre-sized bottles (which retail at around
£2.40), it works out cheaper per ml than the leading brand, while producing
comparable or better results. It also lasts very well. It took over three weeks
to use up even the tiny sample bottle. I would definitely recommend it. I think
the quality and performance of the product, in conjunction with the
environmental benefits and the brand’s ethical stance make it a fantastic buy.
I will certainly be buying it again.
