It is really soft, just difficult to clean. I found that Dr. Bronner's or a bar of soap work well to get the softness back. My liquid makeup applied well but the bristles begin to stick together rather quickly.

You don't have to buy it online the sell it at drug stores too , I really like the bristles . I use it with a finishing poder or powdered foundation.
