I recently built the Backyard Discovery Eagle's Nest for my daughter, and while it's become a fun addition to our yard, there are several things worth knowing before you buy. The overall design is great, but the wood feels flimsier than I expected. I spent a lot of time sealing every piece before assembly to help it hold up better outdoors. Even once assembled, some parts still felt a bit weak especially the floor of the upper clubhouse. I ended up adding a couple of 2x4s underneath to reinforce it, which made a noticeable difference in stability. The slide also feels thin and flexible, so I'm curious how it will hold up over time. Another thing I wish the company would improve is the packaging. The parts are spread across multiple boxes in a way that forces you to open everything at once just to find what you need. It would be much easier if each box contained the components for a specific step or section so you could work through it in order. On the positive side, I made a few upgrades that really improved the setup. I added string lights inside the upper clubhouse, which gives it a cozy, magical feel in the evenings. I also built a composite deck under the structure, which turned out to be the perfect spot for a small kiddie pool, clean, level, and way more functional than bare ground. And since my daughter is still little, I swapped one of the standard swings for an infant swing, which fit perfectly and made the playset usable right away. Despite the material concerns and the extra work, my daughter absolutely loves it. With some prep, reinforcement, and a few personal upgrades, the Eagle's Nest becomes a fun backyard play space but buyers should be ready to put in more effort than the product photos suggest.
