Washes the beard actually well, but is used to soften the beard after washing. I really didn't feel a softer beard, but made it feel not as thick. The amount you receive in the bottle is a generous amount and lasts a while.

I think that this product was fantastic. Compared to other brands it smelled great and made sure my beard remained soft. It was also very well priced compared to other brands. I would greatly recommend this to anyone with a beard.
