Great concept, not as great as the fourth or first one. On the first day of the game I accidentally threw away a tool so be careful on that. Because you can’t get it back from the bin.

Great for any Rune Factory Collectors.

In this Harvest Moon JRPG mash up, you play as the amnesiac Kyle, an earthmate with the ability to grow miracles form the earth. You are given a quaint little house as well as an impossibly massive plot of land. Now this is where the game really opens up. You are given the option to explore dungeons on top of farming and micromanaging your social exploits. The combat, while rather simplistic in nature, complements the farming system rather nicely and is really no more complex then is really needed. Farming can be a little tedious, as many of the higher end plants tend to take in the 90-120 day span to grow, but the rewards are well worth it. My only true flaw this game has is the inability to do higher level crafting or farming when playing as Kyle. As my favorite main character in the serious, it was disheartening to know I had to move on from him to get ahead in the game. Still would highly recommend to players of both JRPG's and Harvest Moon fans.

My absolute favorite game series. In this game, you play for two generations, which is an incredibly long storyline. There are a ton of different things to do and people to make relationships with. This game is exactly what they call it, a fantasy harvest moon.

This is actually one of my favorite Harvest Moons. I play it more than any other Harvest Moon. It's like real life but with a nice touch on fantasy. The graphics are lovely. I had a hard time deciding on what lady I wanted to marry because they're all so unique. The battling is my favorite part, along with fishing. I don't think I'll ever stop playing this game.

My absolute favorite of the rune factory games. All the marriage candidates are so lovely and unique. It's very addicting and easy to complete dungeons.

Rune Factory 2 is dated. When it came out it was a great improvement over the first Rune Factory game, but it isn't something you can come back to after playing the newer ones.

The gameplay during combat is intuitive and extremely easy in the first half of the game. Once the plot actually starts there is a sudden difficulty spike, but by that point you'll have gotten used to the controls and combat.
You can also fish, farm, mine, cook, and forge weapons and armor. Alas, cooking and forging come much later in the game so you have to make due with whatever the shops sell to use in combat.

The plot is pretty basic. You can't actually start it until you get married and have a child. This takes months of in-game time.
There's a basic template for every area where you have to complete the inane requests of every statue around. This is an odd design decision, but adds length to the game.

The characters are bland and uninteresting for the most part. You can marry about 6 girls. They become your mother later, so choose wisely.

The music is alright, but unremarkable. The character voices are unfitting and awful.

It's a good game to rent, but there isn't much replay value.

This is a Harvest Moon meets JRPG . So not only do you keep crops, cars for animals, and look for a spouse but there is also a pretty developed storyline. This series is always a blast to play.
