63 reviewsI ordered some bras as "final sale" items. They just sent me whatever the hell they wanted me to have. They threw in an ugly Christmas shirt--possibly out of guilt.

My mom used to shop at Catherine's in the 80's. It was a nice store that sold great quality clothing for larger women. I started shopping there maybe 10-15 years later when I was looking for professional clothing for work. I quickly became a loyal Catherine's customer, and knew I could count on finding the right outfit there for a dressy occasion all the way down to a beach picnic. The fabric quality was always very good, prices were great (especially with their sales and Perks plan), and customer service was superb. Then Covid. The pandemic killed Catherine's brick and mortar stores and they moved to online-only shopping. They also merged with several other clothing lines for plus-size women. These changes have unfortunately resulted in a noticeable drop in quality -- some fabric is thin, inexpensive, and doesn't hold its shape well. One of the most egregious changes is the *outrageous* shipping charges customers have to pay! Pre-Covid, if you shopped online, you had the option of free delivery to a Catherines store near you. Now, you'll pay $25+ to have a few items shipped in a plastic mailer. I have shipped far heavier items than a few shirts and the cost hasn't been anywhere near $25!! The catalog that just arrived today offers "Up to 50% off Plus FREE Shipping". Great, right? Nope. It is patently FALSE advertising because they don't allow you to stack the 50% off discount code and the Free Shipping code. "Plus" means "AND," Catherines -- BOTH things need to be true when you use the word "Plus." Stop putting fake discount offers like this out there. There are many reviews that mention poor customer service and how difficult it is to get a refund if you return items. In all, I'm profoundly disappointed with the drop in quality and hike in costs since Catherines closed their stores. Plus-size women have precious few options when it comes to clothes shopping. Catherines was so reliable for over 40 years...but no more. This is not my mom's Catherines.
I ordered a pair of jeans at the end of April and received a different size than I ordered. I attempted to exchange it for the correct size, but instead of sending the correct item they cancelled my order and kept the shipping and handling. I called at the beginning of June to inquire about the item I ordered but they had no information about the item. At that point I said I wanted to forget the whole thing and get a refund on my shipping and handling. I was transferred to voice mail options for the credit department but the option message kept repeating and ignored my selection so there was no way to get any help so I am out that money. All I wanted was a pair of pants. It shouldn’t be this hard. I’m through with Catherine’s. I bought great clothes from their stores but the customer service for online orders is a big disappointment.
