Description

Based on the best-selling Stephen King novel, "Carrie" "catches the mind, shakes it and refuses to let it go" (Time)! Starring Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie (in Oscar(R)-nominated performances), John Travolta and Amy Irving, this ultimate revenge fantasy is "absolutely spellbinding" (Roger Ebert), "outrageously witty" (Los Angeles Times) and one of the all-time great horror classics! At the center of the terror is Carrie (Spacek), a tortured high-school misfit with no confidence, no friends. and no idea about the extent of her secret powers of telekinesis. But when her psychotic mother and sadistic classmates finally go too far, the once-shy teen becomes an unrestrained, vengeance-seeking powerhouse who, with the help of her 'special gift,' causes all hell to break loose in a famed cinematic frenzy of blood, fire and brimstone.

Brian DePalma's adaptation of Carrie is nothing short of masterful. This tale is a tragic one, painted with dreamy 70's cinematography on the canvas of small town America.

From the film's very opening, Sissy Spacek brings a palpable sense of vulnerability and fear to the role of the social outcast Carrie. She absolutely owns this film, and was completely deserving of her 1977 Oscar nomination.

Her performance paired with the strong visual style of Brian DePalma makes Carrie a masterpiece that deserves to be discovered by each new generation of moviegoers - horror fan or not.

I'll definitely be revising Carrie many more times in the coming years.

Another classic by Stephen King. I remember watching ithe mivie as a child with my Aunt's and was scared as could be but couldn't stop watching! When i was older I read the book and the book has so much more descriptions and explains it more in detail!

Carrie is a very good movie. I always loved watching Carrie when I was a kid and still love it to this day. I don't really care much for the remake I always prefer originals. As a kid I always wanted to have telekinesis like Carrie. My favorite part of the movie is prom night when Carrie looses it and snaps on the whole school.

The movie adaptation did no justice to the novel. The novel explains more in detail what she thought and why she acted the way she did. It is good but not a great adaptation. Unless you watch the movie first.

So. Overrated. It had some good parts, it's a decent enough concept and you do feel sympathy for the character. However, the majority is long, drawn-out and boring. The mother's role is exaggerated to the point that she can't even be taken seriously. Basically, interesting concept, not very well done.
