The Carando Abruzzese Italian Style Meatballs typically come packaged with 12 meatballs per pack, with a serving size of 3 meatballs, giving about 4 servings total per package. They are completely raw and must be fully cooked before eating.
I was interested in this product because it offers a raw, uncooked option that allowed for more control over preparation compared to pre-cooked frozen meatballs. Since spaghetti is a family favorite, I was excited to try them as part of a homemade meal.
After preparing them, I found the texture to be decent and appreciated the convenience of having a ready-to-use raw option. The packaging was also practical and easy to store.
From a nutritional standpoint, the product does offer a good amount of protein (19 mg per serving), but when it came to flavor, the high sodium content (680 mg per serving) was reflected in the taste.
I’m not sure if other brands offer a raw, uncooked meatball option like this, but I would be open to trying a different brand in the future. However, based on this experience, I would not purchase this product again and would personally recommend making meatballs from scratch instead for better flavor and salt control.
I buy these when on sale for a quick and easy meal. I use them for meatball subs or spaghetti. I mix them with the spicy ones they make and viola meal is ready!! The price is decent as well. cooking two packs I have enough for a couple meals!
It was fine, FOR SAUSAGE made into the shape of meatballs? Normally I would just add hot sausage, to my sauce. I just don't know how they call these Italian meatballs? As I have always understood it, Italian meatballs are made with pork & BEEF! American Meatballs are just BEEF.
As I said, it was fine for sausage but I wouldn't buy them again. As it is cheaper to buy Italian style sausage and make my own meatballs, using BEEF!
