This isn't going to be right for everybody, the compact size and exterior filter comes with some downsides, so you might prefer one of the different units. Blueair offers a lot, so it's not a problem, but this review very much aims to make you aware of all the nitty gritty details of the unit, including ones that might not be right for your household. What I can say without hesitation, is that this is a great air purifier and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Having tried a few Blueair Purifiers, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of them is quality and ease of use, both are superb in a way most European designed products seem to excel at.

This is the most compact Blueair design I've seen and so it's absolutely ideal for small apartments and single rooms. Also great for a small office space or literally anywhere you don't have a lot of space. It's extremely compact for an air purifier, about the size of a small wastebasket. Honestly, it's so small, I feel weird putting it on the floor and prefer to have it sitting on a shelf or somewhere higher, as I feel it will be easy to trip over on the floor. The good news is, it takes up very little room and won't be as noticeable. Considering the size, it does a great job purifying the air, much better than I expected given the size.

I have to admit that I don't love the 'fabric' covered look as much as a hard shelled unit, but that's simply personal taste. I really do like the shape of this unit and the design of the top section, where the holes look very cool, almost like a design feature. Basically, this unit combines form and function in a pleasing way. The power cord is a little short for my tastes, that means you won't trip over it, but those with limited plugs might struggle to get this plugged in.

A slight downside is the noise of the unit. While it's basically silent on setting 1 (lowest) and not too bad on the middle setting, it really does sound like an old dying PC on setting 3. That is to say, it's very loud. I'm thinking it's a necessity with having the unit be this size, it's barebones in order to focus on power and clearing the air well and unfortunately, that means it is much louder than the bigger units. However, it works splendidly on settings 2 and 3, and you can run the highest setting when you are out, or not trying to sleep.

Filter reminder: The unit will remind you to replace the filter after 6 months via a red light.

Other than that, this is a very feature light model. It does what an air purifier is supposed to do, with no bells and whistles. It's one of the lower priced models, but you're essentially paying for the compactness, paired with the efficiency of the unit. If size isn't an issue for you, one of the bigger models might do you better.

The Air purifier comes with a carbon filter, meaning that it removes smells and smoke as well as regularly purifies air. This is recommended to replace every 6 months at a cost of $24.99 (at time of review).

It also comes with 2 different colours of exterior filter fabric, blue and black. Four other colour options must be bought separately ($9.99 cost), there's Crystal Pink, Buff Yellow, Lunar Rock (white/grey) and Saffron Red. The exterior filter is not replaced, so it's not necessary to buy a new one, you can simply wash it and thanks to the handily included spare you can switch out while washing. It's very easy to change, just pull it over the filter/unit.
