This was a very difficult and interesting book to read. The author does an excellent job of retelling the events of the Attics prison riot and the ensuing cover up and subsequent actions by both prisoners and hostages. The details of the actual riot and the events that followed are extremely hard to read, I had to take several breaks. In addition, the state's cover up of the events was also pretty disturbing as well. My favorite part of the book was being able to read about the reforms and laws that were passed as a result of the Attica rebellion, although they were some three decades later. My only complaint about this book is that I do feel that the author was not totally objective, her biases did show through her writing.
