Being an elder millennial growing up in the alternative scene, and having a penchant for bright colors, I've always been at least a nominal fan of the Betsey Johnson aesthetic. I had never smelled her fragrances though, so when I saw how affordable it was to get a set of them, I snatched it up!
The first in the set is simply called Betsey Johnson. This just smells like 2006. It's a fruity floral with a cozy warm base. It's very sweet, and while it does smell very much like a standalone fragrance, the vibe is not too far off from the Flowerbombs and Coco Mademoiselles, maybe with a hint of Juicy Couture. The notes are pear, black currant, mandarin orange, grapefruit, red apple, freesia, lily of the valley, praline, amber, sandalwood, musk, cashmere wood and cedar. It's a well rounded designer perfume with a complex and nicely layered profile, especially considering the ridiculously low price point. I'd expect more of an alcoholic blast with synthetic notes considering that this travel size bottle was basically $5. This is nearly beast mode in its sillage and longevity. If I put on more than a couple of sprays it would be too much for me. The two sprays I did apply are very pleasant, and very much a throwback to my early 20s! Definitely worth the $5!
