My boyfriend wants a game for Christmas and I'm starting to look now is this a good game for him ? To give as a gift ??
It is an entertaining game?
Battlefield 3 is my favorite shooting game. And that's saying a lot because I love COD and halo. Conquest (online play) is soooooooo fun! The maps are huge and you can ride helicopters, quads, tanks, etc. It is the most realistic shooting game I have played.

Battlefield 3 is a genre-defining multi-player experience that shouldn't be missed by fans of military-shooters. As with most modern first person shooters, your enjoyment of Battlefield 3 is largely dependent on your desire to play with other people. If you, like me, prefer your games as solitary experiences, Battlefield will be a quick and not altogether enjoyable game. If you do venture into the multi-player modes, you'll find some of the largest and most densely populated, well, battlefields you can find in console gaming today. The single-player campaign is enhanced by stellar graphics as well as varied and realistic gunplay; unfortunately, none of that is enough to save it from the lackluster,thought-free, generic "terrorists plan to attack, now save the world" plot. If you venture into multi-player, you'll watch the game soar. The playgrounds are positively enormous, and full of every variety of vehicle (everything from ATVs to F-16s) you'll need to take full advantage of such a large space. Far more so than rival Call of Duty, Battlefield 3 fosters and rewards players who play as a team. Huge 24 player battles truly sing when both 12-man armies are working in sync to meet their objectives. As with most multiplayer shooters, the skill required is intensely high, and for that reason, more casual players will find themselves unable to make much impact. When you're just starting, facing off against a team stocked with level 100+ opponents is daunting, and makes leveling up yourself a much more frustrating experience. If you stick it out, the rewards do come, but getting there is a struggle.

This game took a new turn on your standard call of duty game amd standard fps game. It opened up a new world for combat. Whatever price you buy it at now is completely worth it. Its not similar to other games because it took its own turn on things and i would recommend to other gamers.

The first version of this game was download only. There was no campaign and you could only play online. It was set in WW2 times and it had mostly iron site weapons (except the sniper rifle). BF2 was a big step in the right direction and the improvements have continued through the third version. Some would argue that there isn't much difference between BF2 & BF3 but I would disagree. Game play has improved but the real improvement has been with the graphics engine and weapon customization/upgrades. I recommend you play through the campaign but only so you can become familiar with the game play. It has some cool stuff, but I play this game online exclusively. BF3 has also utilized the expansion packs a lot better too. There will be a total of 5 available expansion packs that are released at various dates in the future. Currently 3 are available with 2 more in the future. Personally, that is genius because it is like getting a new game with each release. The expansion packs are available in a Premium bundle for a little less than the original price of the game ($49.99). I HIGHLY recommend it. Overall, I will continue to purchase future versions of this game.

I think this is an incredible game. It feels great, and the realistic shooter franchise has only gotten more realistic with this installment. So why can I just not commit to this game? Truth be told, I find it kind of lacking. At the end of the day you just shoot the other human guys, just like every other modern warfare shooter today. The graphics are nice at first, but then you realise you just have a screen full of dust and bloom, and every few seconds there is an explosion trying to emit an atmospheric feel, but it's all the same. The campaign is boring, tacked on for the sake of having a single player. It's well designed, sure, but it's so obvious that the developers were focused on the multiplayer. Yes. This game shines in the multiplayer. The MP is a LOT of fun... for a while. At the end of the day you just die a fair bit and run way too much around the huge, expansive maps (in terms of atmosphere, the maps are great). I don't know, something just didn't stick to me with this game. 7/10

Battlefield 3 is the latest installment of the Battlefield franchise. Vehicles have been around this franchise for a very long time, and with bf3 they have perfected it! I have this game on all systems, 360,ps3 and PC. It looks the Best on PC but make sure you have a pc that can run the game... The community is better on the 360 but the game is watered down a bit (maps are bigger on PC, more POI on PC) the graphics are great, the vehicles are fun. I really don't have any complaints about this game. The expansions are great also! For a more COD style game play get the close quarters expansion. This game really is great and the load out options are even better, very customizable. This game is definitely a Go.

This is the game that all other games aspire to be. The graphics are incredibly detailed and the physics and movement of the game are so realistic you feel like you are actually running through hallways with a M-16 and enemy's shooting at you. The story line although long is very engaging and leaves you wanting to keep playing. The levels are very fun and action packed but then you get thrown into sniping situations that force you to be patient and to pay close attention. The online multiplayer is fantastic the maps are large and detailed and the games although slow and long are very strategy based making it a challenge to get kills but rewarding when you get one. The addition of vehicles like the dirt bike and the jet add a whole new level of awesomeness to the games. The next Battlefield will be a first person shooter industry leader that will dominate the genre.

The campaign is a good time. It is long enough that it feels substantial and good enough looking with a good enough story to keep you playing through it. Enough about the campaign though. Multiplayer is where Battlefield 3 - and the Battlefield series, really - outshines all of its contemporary competition. Multiplayer is really, truly a TEAM game. Large maps with air, land, and sea vehicles and class-based combat mean that it is unlikely that any one player can dominate the game and as a result of his/her dominance, lead their team to victory - unlike that other "team-based" MP FPS game (CoD). A lesser team using communication and teamwork to pursue the objectives is fully capable of overcoming one dominant player on the other team. If you appreciate team-based, tactically oriented gameplay, this is the clear choice for its generation.
