I adore Sanrio and was thrilled to get the second release of this Sanrio Tamagotchi Meets virtual pet. This version is red instead of pink like the first version and comes with a matching lanyard. The face plate has a 3D effect and is super cute with the mixture of tamagotchi and Sanrio characters. This is the Japanese version of the US release of the Tamagotchi On, but with the addition of Sanrio characters. This is definitely not like the original black and white Tamagotchi of the 90’s. You raise your tama from child, to teenager, to adult. When your tama becomes an adult, you can marry another tama and the tama baby takes on traits from both parents AND you have the chance to marry a Sanrio character like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Tuxedo Sam, Keroppi, Kiki & Lala, to name a few, and the baby will take on their traits as well. It’s really fun to see the different mixes of traits as you continue breeding with other tamas. These devices can connect to another Meets or an On and also connects to the US Tamagotchi On and the Japanese Tamagotchi Meets app available on iOS or Android. There are tons of TV things to do like play games, build relationships and have a tama pet (and breeding those tama pets); check out my review for Bandai - Tamagotchi On - Wonder Garden Purple. This has the same functionality and a little more as it can also connect to another Japanese Tamagotchi called a Tamagotchi M!x and to the Tamagotchi Station in Japan. The nostalgia of playing with a tamagotchi when I was a kid, combined with Sanrio characters just brings me the warm and fuzzies. However, like the US counterpart, the screen scratches easily, but there are screen protectors and cases available on Amazon and Etsy. Tamagotchi is more popular in Japan so the Japanese versions have more options than the ones offered in the US.
