It is a very watery gel that foams as it cleanses away dirt and grime, makeup and bacteria responsible for breakouts. It seems to have a cooling effect which I found very pleasant. It leaves my skin feeling cleansed, hydrated and soothed. The Purify - Calm and Clear line is great for people with acne, rosacea or redness, like me. They use natural botanicals, peptides, organic vitamins, algae, intact DNA, ATP, resveratrol and organic minerals to provide anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing properties. The products do have a light scent of organic essential oils of citrus and mint. These were not bothersome to me.
