Product Description

Along with its captivating performances and thoughtfully written screenplay, the film adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower boasted a soundtrack that added to its authenticity and emotional impact. Set during the early '90s, the film's music features some of the era's definitive songs plus some older classics: Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation," New Order's "Temptation," Galaxie 500's "Tugboat," the Smiths' "Asleep," and David Bowie's "Heroes" are some of the many highlights here. With mixtape-like intimacy, the album echoes the connections between the film's characters, but that heartfelt vibe reaches listeners as well. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi see more...

This is a wonderful soundtrack that stays in fact along side the movie! All the songs are wonderful, my personal favorite is Asleep! I would definitely recommend and buy this, it is a definite must listen and the movie is also a must watch!

The book is one of my favorites. Similar to Submarine, a truly charming tale about coming of age and all the complications that presents. The movie is very good, not as great as the book in my opinion, but isn't that always the case? The soundtrack is a great gift for teens...they'll be able to empathize with the lyrics!

Hands down, 5 star film! I bought this book on a whim in 1998, and loved it! So when previews for the movie came out, I was extremely excited! What a great xxx last, even similar to what I imagined in my mind. The soundtrack rocks, including the song,'Asleep", by the Smiths.

I would listen to this soundtrack while doing basically anything. Light, easy listening that's great for cleaning, road trips, relaxing, anything! Most of these are older songs, which I appreciate, and they are appropriate to listen to with anyone!

Such a great movie, and an amazing book. It had such amazing quotable scenes and parts in the book. Love it, and had an amazing movie soundtrack. Loved the time period as well.

If there is a movie/soundtrack that yells Teen Angst and Awkward Craziness its this one! I love this movie and watch it repetitively. This soundtrack is amazing and worked very well with the movie! I would highly recommend this to anyone! Give it a listen and then watch the movie!!

After reading this novel, I knew that the soundtrack for the film had to be amazing in order to not disappoint. It's filled with offbeat and edgy tunes that make for the perfect backing to this offbeat, indie film about feeling infinite and belonging.

The movie was great, really followed the book well. The soundtrack also really corresponded well with the movie! It had the same feel as the movie, focusing on living life and being young and free. Excellent music, mostly unknown artists. Recommend!

I had to watch this twice to fully understand what was going on but when I finally did omg....it was so sad and it made so much sense why things were happening the way there were.. I don't want to spoil but omg I feel so bad for him..and the way the songs fit the mood.. and gave so many feels I highly recommend this.

Perfect explaination of a majority of teenage minds. I absolutely love the transformation of all the characters as the movie and book go on. The book to movie transformation was really good and close to the book. The cast that was chosen were perfect for the roles. I highly recommend both the book and movie!
