I started with amerigroup recently and Ive had nothing but a great experience. They call to welcome you and really explain all of the benefits that they provide. They cover a ton of medications which was very important to me and if I have any questions, member services is easy to reach and always very helpful.

I was a Humana Gold Plus member and was 100% satisfied. Unfortunately, a very well known medical community decided that they will no longer accept Humana. ALL of my doctors now won’t accept Humana. Because I have several autoimmune diseases I determined that I couldn’t lose my doctors. I called Amerigroup who talked to me about Amerivantage which is a dual plan. I asked VERY specific questions. They give you $150 to get groceries per month. You can choose either a $50 a month credit towards your utility bill or an additional $500 per year added to your dental, vision or hearing allotted amount. I was told that I could use both cards online with no issues. I asked if I could use the card to get groceries delivered from Walmart. They said that would be no problem. I wait for 2 weeks to get the card and activate it and try and use it and it won’t work. So I call Nations Benefits which is who Amerigroup has contracted for this OTC/Flex card service. Imagine my surprise when I am told that you can’t use EITHER benefit online. Which makes it completely useless to me. Then Nations said that you can order groceries through them. I am adding pictures of the groceries. They have a grand total of about 20 items that are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. Need a generic can of tuna? You can get it for $2.50! How about salmon or sardines in a can? Yum yum.🤢Want cereal? It will only cost you $7!! A box of pasta that would cost 99 cents at the store? Well, ladies and gents you can have that box of pasta for $4.50! Going once…going twice…SOLD to the desperate person that has no other choice. I find it laughable that “Healthy Foods” are written on this page. I tell them that I can’t go to the store, I don’t have a car and sometimes I can’t even walk unassisted when my diseases flare. They say we have a transportation service that can take you as long as you book them 72 hours in advance. Read up on the transportation company. They don’t show up. IF you actually can get picked up it can take 5-7 hours after your appointment for them to pick you back up IF they actually show up to do that! I am LIVID! I now have to deal with this until January 2024 to switch to yet another insurance company where I still may end up losing my doctors. In the United States of America health insurance, medical care and groceries should not be this bad. I had Amerigroup years ago and hated it then. I had hoped that they would have gotten better but it looks like they have gotten worse. The only reason I went with them to begin with is for the benefits that I can’t even use! BTW I actually talked to several members. You have to scan each thing at the grocery store to see if Nations will approve what groceries you get.
