I try to donate blood any time I can. If you can't donate to canteen at blood drive. Volunteer. Collect cloths or supplies for disaster relief. Usually cleaners buckets mops are always needed. Giving doesn't hurt but sure makes you feel lucky and blessed for sharing.

My family experienced a house fire and the American Red Cross were there to help my family find temporary housing and basic clothing needs. I still remember picking out the shoes. We were left to pick out what worked for us without restrictions. Many years later my daughter and I helped with a fundraiser dinner to celebrate the many volunteers that help at the Red Cross and it was a pleasure to see how many people have served and for so many years. They provide a great service to our communities.

I love donating to the red cross. It is so organized every time I've given blood and I appreciate the blood mobiles they do at work so people can still make a difference without having to worry about doing it before or after work. I appreciate everything they do.

This is a fabulous organization with thousands of selfless, well-trained volunteers who provide high quality care after a disaster (shelter, food, clothing, medicine, emotional support). Executive management changes in recent years have resulted in an even more responsive and lean organization, with donor dollars going where needed most. The name is American Red Cross

I don't know how much the executives get paid but good people that run successful organizations deserve a good salary. What I do know is that when there are disasters ...they are there and when you need blood, your life depends on them. I donated platelets for years and though the process takes almost 2 hrs, the staff always made it a wonderful experience. When I am done having children, I plan to resume donating. Lots of people donate blood but platelets takes a lot more time...more people need to do this.

While I gladly give blood when needed, I feel almost harassed by The Red Cross when it comes to donating again.

It's like a vicious cycle. I give blood and as soon as I can donate again, the harassing phone calls & snail mail comes along until I donate again.

While I understand blood donation is necessary and always in need, some of their marketing tactics are tacky.

I have been thinking about doing an Americorps program that works with this organization but I just never had the time to do (well I don't meet everything they want). Anyways, this organization is wonderful but the only downfall is that if you volunteer in a disaster, sometimes the person who is the head of what your doing, doesn't really have a clue what to do either...

American Red Cross has been so helpful and wonderful for so long, I'm sure everyone has heard of them. I am a frequent blood donor and they are always so great during the process. I have supported this organization for years and will gladly continue to do so.
