No batteries, its caused from the warmth of the wick burning

There's no batteries that are visible. I thought it was a heat sensor. I have one from last Christmas and it still works.

There are not any changable batteries that I've ever seen. That being said, I've had several of these and the candle has always run out before the batteries did!
