Staining is inevitable with almost every vibrant red dye/tint, but that is doubled here since this is a permanent color. That isn't to say the vibrancy of the color won't fade relatively fast—I used this color for about two years, redyeing my hair every three to four months, and it tended to fade to a duller, orange-y red after about three to four weeks on level eight blond ends.
After not dyeing my hair for over half a year (I believe eight months) my mids were still stained a ruddy color. It's honestly a miracle that I didn't have to cut my hair to remove the color, and even then that's because it took half of the staff in a salon to correct it (which I am grateful for, lol).
Stick to Ion demi/semi-permanent reds if you don't want to bleach the red out to remove it (even with bleach, the red particles didn't rinse out for 2~ or so months, because I didn't want to further compromise my hair. I can't speak for how color removers hold up against this product).
On a positive note, I do actually really enjoy the color itself, it's a very pretty but not overwhelming tint somewhere between red and magenta and one benefit of it being a permanent color is that unlike their semi-permanent series, it doesn't stain my skin/pillows/everything nearly as severely, but that's about as far as positives go for this product.
Ion is the absolute best. It smells good, applies well, and makes my hair feel healthy. The tubes are much easier to use than most applicators. Photo also features Ion Jade.
This hair color product works amazing for root touch up, all over color, or if you want a money piece this is the brand you want! Last through multiple washes, touch up once a month. It does stain but if you pair it with the Ion Stain Remover your in the perfect spot!
