It's pretty amazing what they tell you, but it doesn't tell you much of the medical aspect of your DNA ancestry, which I understand but it would have been nice. It is extremely pricey though.
I love how as they get new reports, they let you know to check out your results. I was surprised by the results, as it said I had no Native American in me, yet my great grandmother was 100%
I bought the DNA and medical package. Wouldn't recommend the medical as it is just basic information that most already know from biology class. However the DNA was great as I love learning about the past.
I was REALLY impressed with the accuracy of the results! I thought it may show my heritage percentages by continents, but it broke it down by country, and THEN listed people with similar matches that could be as closely related to you as 1st and 2nd cousins!!!
I liked my experience. I also liked that it tested for several medical and behavioral traits. My only gripe is that the breakdown of ethnic groups was not as specific as I would have liked.
My fiance took this DNA test. Loved the results and found so much more into his family history. Not only genealogical info, but also what type of carrier he may be for certain things.
Very cool experience. Nice to see your risk factors, ancestry etc. The not down side is that it does not go in depth to other DNA results that can probably also be obtained with a swab.
23andme is a comprehensive autosomal dna test that also can give you health information. The bonus is that you rexeive a haplogroup and can connect to dna cousins! Its a terric service.
This was so interesting! I loved having the blanks filled in about my family. I did the health side of it as well and it gave warnings to lots of things that I now know to look out for!
Giant data base and the co is doing a lot of research into DNA and health issues. This is hateful when you write what you want to be can't move on because influenster wants more words.
Q & A
Is really worth the money ?
Is there anyway I could get this for free and review it? I have heard nothing but good things!
Always wanted to try one of these similar products....worth it?
Has anyone tried their DNA tests? How does it compare to AncestryDNA? Do you get the ancestry analysis along with the breakdown of genetic predispositions (more likely to need more sleep, have curly hair, like coffee, be good at running, etc) or is it one or the other?
