I learned so much about my heritage ! I recommend anybody who is curious about where their roots come from to give 23 and me a chance. It's a bit pricey but the information you receive is priceless. Also you just have to be aware that it is not a fast process so it will take a while to get your results but it will be worth it!
23 and me told me my heritage as well as give me health information about myself. Including things that I am more susceptible to through my DNA. I am very pleased with my results and have recommended the service to several people.
I purchased 2 analysis kits as gifts with both recipients being very appreciative. After researching other brands, I chose 23 & Me because they provide additional information beyond the region your ancestors came from. They also tell you what your DNA reveals about different diseases and other traits. Additionally, they keep your file open so that they can update you as research identifies other markers that may pertain to your sample. Very cool.
I was so excited to finally find an affordable way to discover my roots. I believe I paid $99 for my kit a couple of years ago. The instructions for producing a sample are really easy to follow. The results are displayed in a way that's very pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate. I enjoyed this experience a lot.
We ordered two of the Ancestry and Health ($199) for Christmas presents for ourselves this year. My husband and I look forward to learning more about our ancestry and health together and sharing what we learn with our tween son.
I loved my 23andme genetic reports! It told me if I was a carrier for certain disease states and told me about my ancestry heritage. You can refer friends and get amazon bonus gift cards. It may be a little pricey but is totally worth it if you want to know where you are from and if you are a carrier for certain genes.
23 and Me connected my Cousin with her biological Father. She did a DNA test and used it to compare her DNA sample with matches. This led her to connecting with a distant relative. Her father than after getting in contact with her confirmed he was her real dad by using his 23 and Me results and comparing then to her DNA.
Looking forward to receiving my kit. Unfortunately, my shipping label was delivered with a stamp labeled "found lose in mail" and appeared to have been cut from the package itself... I immediately emailed 23 & Me and had a response within 3 business days. They're sending me a replacement kit no further questions asked. Easy to work with!
23andMe gave me a decent idea of where my father's family is actually from. This service gives an incredibly detailed description of your ancestral history, but it is harder to connect with other people like Ancestry. I have recommended this service to many people, with even my parents using and enjoying the product.
Found some great information about myself and my family. I am a bit upset that there is not more test done for the time that I waited for it to arrive. I also was not able to find my birth parents which I understand is not the main idea of this product. I would love it to be quicker but overall a good product to have.
Q & A
Is really worth the money ?
Is there anyway I could get this for free and review it? I have heard nothing but good things!
Always wanted to try one of these similar products....worth it?
Has anyone tried their DNA tests? How does it compare to AncestryDNA? Do you get the ancestry analysis along with the breakdown of genetic predispositions (more likely to need more sleep, have curly hair, like coffee, be good at running, etc) or is it one or the other?
