Fantastic. Wasn't the speediest of results but the wait was worth it. Very in depth and interesting information. I really appreciate how they broke down the specific regions and loved when they showed where in the world people with the same DNA currently live! I also really appreciated that they broke down when my ancestors of various backgrounds would have lived. I would definitely recommend the service if you're interested in where your ancestors are from.
23andMe really made a difference in my life. I was able to get the DNA kit for free due to having Crohn's disease. The results were able to tell me more about the disease I have myself, and also connect me to others I am related to who have it. It also told me a lot more about my heritage that I never knew!!!
It arrived fast. Results received in 3 weeks which was awesome because average is 5 to 6 weeks. It's gave me a breakdown of each region of nationality my DNA came from for example 59% Irish 1.4 Iberian ect. You can connect with possible relatives that share your DNA. Pretty cool. Now everyone in my family wants to try it.
I found out what countries I am from but a lot of it was too broad for my liking for example I am broadly southern European which lights up Spain, Greece, and Italy. I would have like to known in more detail where I am from. It was cool to find out I am related to a famous Italian poet Francisco petrarch.
When I was a baby I was put up for adoption and adopted, although I don't remember it i thought taking this DNA test would be very interesting and it sure was! I found out things about my ancestry i never would have known before! I highly recommend using his company because they can seriously tell you so much information about yourself and if you're in my position, it can pair you win real biological relatives of yours who have used the site!
23 and me is a really useful product. I was so excited to use this and discover my traits and possible ancestry. The shipping time was pretty quick for me, however, if you do order this product during a holiday, you could end up waiting up to 2 months. The other con with this product is that it isn't 100% accurate, but with the more DNA that comes into their labs, the more accurate other peoples results will become. It's awesome how they add new things to your profile as time goes on so you can still learn new things about yourself. I definitely recommend this product.
I absolutely love 23andme. I initially got it at my doctors recommendation, to see how my body would react to certain medications. But I recently discovered the ancestry side and I helped my pappy figure out who his mother was by a DNA relative I connected with on 23andme. I learned things about myself and my family that I never knew and would have never known if it weren't for 23andme. I am so grateful and HIGHLY recommend it!
This is a great company/service! I was adopted at just a few weeks old so I had no idea about anything related to my ancestry or genetics. It was amazing to see the different percentages of the different parts of the world I am from. It was also great to know what different kinds of diseases/genetic issues I might be susceptible to or carry. Even if you aren't adopted and you might know your heritage, this is well worth it and it can tell you so much more than that.
Getting this information has been such an interesting journey. There have been some fun results - like the test that indicates whether or not you likely enjoy cilantro - and more serious ones, like if you have the BRCA gene. Also the genetic ancestry data about haplogroups - I have connected with distant cousins all over the world. This is a fun way to learn about yourself, and I recommend it to absolutely everyone.
23andMe was fast and easy. You receive the sample kit in the mail, easy to follow instructions and fast results. It seems expensive for the number of reports that are provided, which are fairly basic. The report data is presented very well with very clear and concise results. They release new reports frequently but found my results to be relatively uneventful, which isn't a bad thing in the case of genetics!
Q & A
Is really worth the money ?
Is there anyway I could get this for free and review it? I have heard nothing but good things!
Always wanted to try one of these similar products....worth it?
Has anyone tried their DNA tests? How does it compare to AncestryDNA? Do you get the ancestry analysis along with the breakdown of genetic predispositions (more likely to need more sleep, have curly hair, like coffee, be good at running, etc) or is it one or the other?
