I really enjoyed 23andme and even went back and got a kit for my brother. I'm bummed that it takes about 6-8 weeks for processing, but that probably just means that they're doing it right!
I bought this for my parents and absolutely loved it! My mom got her results first and pretty quick. My dads results were shocking (in a great way)! His results took a bit longer. I have better knowledge about my ancestry and can't wait to do more research!
Pretty cool analysis - some of what I already know and a bunch of what I didn't! Easy and painless to perform (just spit in a tube) and about 6 weeks later I had my analysis emailed to me.
Totally worth the money. I was incredibly happy with the amount of information provided. They frequently update their research and update your information. I would recommend this to anyone, even if they think they have a good idea of their genetics.
I haven't received my results yet but, so far have been able to read my mother and grandparents results. I love how everything is broken down and I can see in detail my family's history
This was pretty cool! I really liked learning about all of the health stuff! The genealogy was pretty cool, too. But I was a little jealous because mine wasn't surprising at all. Haha!
Told me so much about myself from just a cup of saliva. I recommend it as they tell health indicators that you may be carrying. You'll be amazed at all the features that are available.
This service is amazing! My parents are adopted so I wanted to know some more about my history and genetic health. They provided me with great answers and I'm excited to keep learning more.
I love 23andme and I would recommend it to people, I have always been wanting to know more about my DNA and ancestry. I think that the price is good for the amount of reports and tools that you get through their website.
I could get lost in all of the data I was provided after sending off my DNA to be analyzed. The process is seamless - you spit in a tube and mail it off. Kind of gross but painless nonetheless! I received my full analysis within 4 weeks. Learning more about my heritage was interesting, but what I really love are all of the quirky details you find out are genetic. I hate cilantro - 23andme pointed out that I have a gene that makes it tastes like soap. So many golden nuggets of info and opportunities to connect with others who share your DNA. Go do it! It makes a unique gift!
Q & A
Does this only tell you the area from which you came from? (Eastern Europe, North America) . Or does it specifically tell you a percentage of a specific heritage down to the nationality? (25% italian, 25% czech, etc.). My family and I are originally from the Czech Republic and I've been wanting to get this for my mom as she doesn't have a close relationship with her family and I think it would be awesome for her to do this and I know she would like to. However, I want to make sure it is specific, not vague. I already know the general area...you know?
