Description

Tasting Notes

The 2013 Angeli Carignane is dark ruby in color with flavors of red and black fruit on the nose with tastes of black cherries and cocoa, and smooth tannins in finish.

Vineyard Notes

The Angeli Family's passion for farming and wine started five generations ago in 1856 when Rafaelo and Magdalena Angeli purchased the first of their vineyards in the Alexander Valley. Today, the Angeli vineyard is owned by Jerry and Linda Angeli and their son, Jeff. This fifteen acres of old-vine Carignane were planted in 1908 and are some of the oldest Carignane vines in the valley. Commonly known as a blending wine, grown for its great acidity, big tannins and bold color, Carignane is also known for its high vigor producing upwards of eight tons per acre in coastal vineyards. But, these head trained vines are meticulously farmed to keep crop levels low to produce wines opulent and rich.

Food Pairing Notes

Pair with pan-roasted trout and tomato butter.
