I love Aveeno's product line. All products are especially gentle. I bought this particular product because it happens to be oil free, I believe, though don't quote me on that. It is one of the first lotions I reach for because it doesn't leave a heavy residue but is effective. Took one star away because it has an odd watery feel that I don't quite care for, but it doesn't affect how the product works.
I trust Aveeno to clean and hydrate my dry, parched skin. It is a little more spendy than some of the other brands on at the drugstore, but it is gentle and hydrating, so worth the extra $. It is rich enough to provide lasting hydration, but light enough to use every day.
Second update: Ok, after a few days, I am going 2return this. The color oxidizes on my skin. I do like that it is longer wearing than most, I would prefer a lighter, blurring coverage.
Update: I decided to give this one more try before returning it and I'm glad I did! I did the half face test and realized that this makeup is actually incredible. I went through the same thing with L'Oreal Lumi Cushion. It is so incredibly skin like that you don't think it's doing anything as you're applying it. We're used to foundation going on so mask-like, you know? this is a second skin finish! It sets to a matte but not flat finish & lasts all day w/o getting patchy. Couldn't ask for more from a lt/med coverage foundation.
Old review: I love makeup, but this is going straight back. It's a weird white color and Is supposed to be medium coverage but I get the same coverage with a bb cream. I do like the bouncy feel and how creamy it feels going on. It is not scented.
I'm surprised to see this with an allure award. The blush has glitter in...not shimmer, glitter. Since I'm not 12, it's going back. The contouring color is nice though, and for $3? Are you kidding?!? That's a bargain, but the blush is useless. I am torn about the score, since this is such a bargain...but they are offering two products here, so I am reviewing both, hence the three stars.
Have you heard of New CID? You have got to google their i-glow blushes! I first saw them on Ruth Crilly's YouTube channel and it was love at first sight! I ordered the blush and bronzer promptly. They are coming from the UK and I am still waiting to get them in the mail. In the meantime, I saw the CoverGirl TruBlend blush and bronzer at Walmart and they look a lot like the New CID I-glow, so I bought them too! Is there a MakeUp Addicts Anonymous in the Nashville area? 😜 💋
They are both finely milled with a decent amount of shimmer. Neither are too densely pigmented, which I prefer. They both go on silky, not glittery or chalky. Initial application is sheer and builds quickly. So far, the bronzer is my fav. It look natural and the slight shimmer adds a healthy glow to the sun-kissed look. Yes, please!
I really like the blusher too, I just want more shimmer, so I sweep elf highlighter (another bargain!) over my cheekbones to finish.
I own over a hundred blushes! I've been eyeing this one by revlon for several months, but when you own as many blushes as I do...you think twice before you buy! Well, this is top of my list right now. The reasons I like it may be different than what you're looking for in a blush. You see, I don't like the heavily pigmented blush that is so popular right now. I always get frustrated with it because my skin can't handle a lot of color without looking like clown makeup. This goes on sheer and builds quickly, so you can take it from barely there to full coverage easily. The blush is finely milled so the highlight shimmers...no glittery look and not chalky! This will stay at the top of my blush rotation...for now!
I drink la croix coconut almost exclusively. It is guilt free, all natural, unsweetened deliciousness. I used to drink diet sodas but now I can't stand diet sodas! This is so much better. Drinking an unsweetened soda is odd at first, but don't be put off! The wonderfully aromatic scent reminds me of the beach! Of the many, many flavored, Coconut is my favorite, followed by Passion Fruit.
Benefit and Clinique both released products this year housed in this mini mascara tube. Clinique’s product was a lower lash mascara. I like the idea of a smaller wand and more control, so I bought both products. Turns out, I have the same gripe about both of them. The packaging stinks. The opening should be narrower to help remove excess product from the bristles of the tiny wand. In its current form, you get way more product on the wand than necessary and if you don’t wipe it off, you’ll have a splotchy application. When you do wipe-off the excess, it’s a little maddening because you are wasting product you paid for. Its not like you have a ton of product in this little tube. What makes this especially frustrating is how easily they could have fixed this with a two cent part. For shame, Benefit and Clinique. My solution: I bought a double sided E.L.F. clear mascara. I open both the GimmieBrow and the e.l.f. clear mascara. Then, I brush the excess product from the Gimmie brow wand onto the E.L.F. clear mascara wand until the product is sheered out enough to use properly. I don’t think I should have to work this hard to get the product to work correctly.
The formulas are certainly nothing special for either of them. The Clinique is clumpy, in case you were wondering. Not a cute look for the lower lashes. The Benefit is goopy, but sheered down gives me just the extra touch of color I’m looking for. If you are trying to do a significant amount of filling in, this is not the right product. It is a finishing product and can add surprisingly natural looking little hair like lines of color to add just a bit more fullness. I still need to fill in the sparse outer corners of my eyebrows.
Once they work out this kink, it is a useful product if you like the idea of the added convenience. I like the finish GimmieBrow gives, but in protest, I don’t think I would repurchase.
I am constantly trying out new cosmetics and I am happy to say that we have another slam dunk from E.L.F.! I think this was like $3…amazing. I have shied away from powdered highlighters in the past because they tend to look glittery, a bit strange or they don’t show up on my skin at all. I tried this product and instantly loved it. I use it in combination with my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors (the liquids). I like it as much or more than I liked the Becca highlighting powders, which were very pricey. This product is of similar/the same quality as Becca powders, in my opinion. The powder is very finely milled and the color is very natural, giving a healthy glow…the perfect complement to my Becca liquid highlighters.
