Review for Too Faced Born This Way Foundation - 3 weeks, 3 days ago
packaging; glass bottle with a pump
blends well
dries to semi-matte finish
no scent
good color range

emphasizes dry and oily areas
separates and looks cakey
not for those with dry skin

I wanted to love this foundation because it seemed like it's on the top of everyone's must have/holy grail lists. Sadly, it just did not work for me.

While it looked ok after applying with a damp beauty sponge, over the course of the day (8 hours) I noticed a lot of patchy areas around my cheeks, cakey-ness on my forehead and oxidation. I felt it made the oily areas I do have worse as the day wore on. It was not cute! I couldn't believe how bad it performed and looked considering the high ratings and price point.

Once I washed it off with my usual cleanser (Philosophy Purity) I could tell my skin did not care for it. My skin is normal to dry (cheeks and forehead) and I noticed this foundation made my skin drier. I thought maybe it was a fluke and used it again the next day but, nope it still sucked.

I'm a fan of the TooFaced line unfortunately this was a fail. I do not recommend it.

Review for Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner - 1 month ago
I was lucky enough to be selected by Influenster to test out the new Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Lip Liner in LOLITA! Since I already own this shade in their Everlasting Liquid Lipstick I knew it would work well with my skintone. There's a reason why it's a cult favorite, it's a universally flattering shade.

opaque color payoff
available in 30 shades
glides on smooth
not sticky or tacky
smudge proof
long lasting
precise application
vegan and cruelty free

can feel dry when applied w/out lip balm
price point may be high for some
only 0.03g of product compared to other brands

Not only does this lip liner apply like a dream - no tugging - it stays on and doesn't dry out my lips like other brands. I swatched it on my arm and had a difficult time trying to take it off. I ended up using two baby wipes and even then it left a stain on my skin - impressive!

However, on my lips, is another story. If you line and fill in your lips and then eat a meal, it will eventually wear away in the middle and you'll be left with an outline of color. That's pretty normal and I find it happens with most lip products that claim to be long-lasting.

Shade range is excellent! There are 30 (THIRTY!) shades altogether, so you're bound to find one to suit any mood and skin tone. I do hope they'll release other colors to match their Studded Kiss line, like my other favorite 'Mother'.

As with all KVD products the packaging and attention to design is great. I appreciate the retractable pencil and not having to fiddle with sharpening it. As for the amount of product in the tube, there's only about 0.01oz (or 0.3g). Unfortunately, that's much less than other brands at this price point. If you're on a budget (and who isn't?) it's something to keep in mind. The Everlasting Lip Liners are available on the KVD website and at Sephora for 18$ a pop.

** I received this complimentary from Influenster for testing but as always, my opinions are my own. **

Review for Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder - 2 months, 2 weeks ago
I’ve had the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder saved in my
Sephora ‘Loves’ list with the intention of buying it eventually but, I
always end up getting other things instead. I’m sure y’all know how that
goes, ha. Now that I’ve had a chance to play around with it, I have to
say it’s has lived up to its hype.
• PROS :
finely milled
doesn’t cake up
no scent
a little goes a long way
can be applied with puff, brush or makeup sponge
various uses
• CONS :
may not be for those with very dry skin
puff is larger than container
not travel friendly• OVERALL :
My skin is normal to dry and sensitive so I was a little wary about
using a mattifying setting powder. However, I was pleasantly surprised
with how this product performed. It left a nice, non-cakey appearance.
And yes, it is translucent even on my skin. I applied a light dusting
over my t-zone with the puff and brushed off the excess with my MAC 187
stippling brush. My face stayed matte all day, there was no oxidation
and I did not experience any skin reactions.
While I do like the product and plan to incorporate it in my makeup
routine, I wasn’t too thrilled about the puff being bigger than the
container itself. It will have to be stored separately which can lend
itself to being misplaced, getting dirty etc.
Since you can’t store the puff inside the container, it does not make
it travel friendly. Once the protective sticker/cover is removed the
powder will come out and accumulate on the lid when tossed around in
your makeup bag. I had a similar issue with Bare Minerals containers
until they changed to a twist closure. I hope this will be something
they’ll look into for the future.
Despite those two nitpicky things, I am quite impressed with this
powder. The price point is reasonable especially for the amount of
product you’re getting. It’s available at Sephora for $28-$38 and comes
in two shades; ‘translucent’ and ‘translucent medium deep’.
• Note : Opinions are my own. I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Love this setting spray! As someone who has dry skin it really helps with keeping my makeup looking fresh not cakey. The price point is great, too!

Review for Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator Compact - 4 months ago
My HG highlighter! The shade 'So Hollywood' is such a pretty gold that will look great on every skintone. Dust it on the high points of your face and even along your shoulders during summer for a pretty glow. The formula is creamy and I haven't experienced any fall out. It's my go-to highlight for every day.

One of my favorite flavors! It's got just enough tang and sweet smoky flavor for those who crave savory snacks like myself.
