Kind Bars Fruit & Nut Delight Bars are such a tasty treat in beach bags and/or a purse, pocket, desk and/or counter top. They are a bit on the pricey side but if it's splurge time then as they say 'if you can’t pronounce an ingredient it shouldn’t go into your body and it shouldn’t even go into your pantry'. That's where Kind Bars come in - being Kind to your Body.
Oh yeah - those words that are so important to a lot of us are big plain in your face to let ya know - GLUTEN FREE!
These are tasty and healthy. Larabar Cashew Cookie Fruit & Nut Bars are great Gluten Free snacks so there is no question that they are in my beach bag. If you don't say a word about the healthy part they will pass a nice snack for those who can (and will) eat just about anything.
Oh, How I Love Haagen-Dazs! The rich, creamy flavor. The half-pint that will make ya oh, so happy. Pick a flavor (gluten-free ones, too) like plain ole vanilla. You can actually enjoy it without complaining that it's 'plain ole vanilla' 'cause it's that good. I have to say that if (when) I have to choose (duh-just 'so happen to be in' freezer section) Haagen-Dazs comes in first. But then if you don't have the pretty penny you have to pay for those little things of ice cream (they have bigger ones and a tiny one, too), sorbet, gelato or frozen yogurt you can look but you have to buy something else. (Unless you are pregnant and it's a craving thing that just won't go away (uh, baby's in there) and your husband is willing (no choice) to go and get you ice cream that cost more than a lot of others.)
Nope, I don't eat them now (they aren't GF) but when I did...(talking to my hubby and kids), -"Yours are over there." That wasn't to be mean. That was to let them know that I thought about them when I picked up my inexpensive (got it from Aldi) container of these tasty, little cookies. I knew the routine. Feed the kids lunch. Give the cookies to them for a snack and then because it's supposed to be four cookies equals a serving ('REALLY?' There aren't that many-10 servings) get extra. I knew setting aside a few for my husband and serving four kids wouldn't last long. These are literally tasty LITTLE butter cookies that aren't too buttery and aren't too sweet. Kids and adults love them. There is a slight floury taste (honest opinion. I remember thinking that BEFORE having to eat 'gluten less'.) But not bad enough to ruin the fun. And grandchildren love using the tin as a mirror and a drum.
Nabisco Gluten Free Rice Thins Poppy & Sesame Seed Crackers taste okay but I can't give it five stars. I appreciate the fact that they are oh-so-close to 'my wheat thins' but they do not have a 'gotta eat them' snack cracker taste. Maybe it is just my taste buds but I think there is a slight lingering aftertaste that even if you eat something else with it (cheese, hummus) it doesn't help. So you have to grab a ginger brew and water to wash/clear it away.
Reese's® Nutrageous® Candy Bar was a disappointment. I guess because Reese's was on the label and the word 'Nut' I immediately thought it would taste like a nutty peanut candy bar. I personally wasn't pleased with the taste. I guess the wafer part is what discourages me.
I was happy to be able to go in an aisle that was for 'normal-eating' people and get Thai Kitchen Purple Corn & Rice Noodles. After cooking and eating it I decided to venture back to the GLUTEN FREE AISLE. Maybe it was the Purple Corn, the noodles themselves (different brands taste different) or the sauce, but it wasn't flavorful to me. Unfortunatly, I needed to add additional spices.
Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures compete with other candies in the 'Be Careful and Make Sure You Don't Eat The Whole Bag of Candy, At Least Before You Share' competition. Of course, that cup of Almond/Soy/Goat/Rice/Anything But A Cow Milk makes the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures taste that much better and not eating the whole bag takes a lot of willpower.
Secret Invisible Solid Unscented Antiperspirant/Deodorant is a good (appreciated) deodorant. It is liked because on those days when you don't want to smell like a flowery garden you don't have to smell like one. And, it is good for when (you hope) you don't want to smell like anything - You Don't Have To.
Yes, I ate it. Yes, it is chocolate and yes, it tastes wonderful. I didn't know/look it up until after the fact (and feeling) but it says on their site, 'ALL of our products including solid chocolate pieces may contain gluten. Any person with a gluten allergy should NOT consume ANY of our products.'-THEIR SITE- If you don't do gluten -Don't do GODIVA. BOOOO!!!!
