Review for Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil - 3 months, 1 week ago

Review for: 5.9 oz more...
This cleanser smells absolutely beautiful, first of all. This is a key product when I'm having a spa night, or if I've had a full face of makeup on.

I tend to use this as my first step in a double-cleanse, and this is why. This product alone does a great job of breaking down make-up and dirt from throughout the day, but some of the ingredients (if not washed off from a second-cleanse) break me out overnight (especially when paired with the Midnight Recovery Concentrate serum). The texture is beautiful - it starts out clear, and then turns nice and milky without frothing (so definitely hydrating!). It claims to be non-comedogenic which is a plus, but I think my skin prefers hyaluronic acid as opposed to squalane (which is what is in this cleanser), so I think that this contributes to the breakouts along with the primrose oil as well. My skin is too dang sensitive for most oils.

In order to keep my love for this product, I will continue using it ONLY as a first cleanse. Then, use something light a simple to remove the scents - or maybe using a wash-cloth to remove rather than just water in my hands.

Review for LUSH Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub - 3 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
I received a good-sized sample from LUSH (they always take care of their customers so nicely!), and my initial thought was to just use this on my body. I was hesitant to use this on my face because they tell those with sensitive skin (ME) to be careful.
Here's the thing, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed using this on BOTH my face and body (even though I have very sensitive skin).

When using on the body, you definitely have to use more product. It's perfectly gritty without being too intense, and the sea salt really buffs that dead, scaly skin away. the silken tofu, avocado butter, and mango butter are the key ingredients that keep your skin nourished rather than stripped.

When using on the face, you are definitely getting more bang for you buck because a little goes a long way. I'm obsessed with the sensation this gives on the face - , after the mattifying effects of the sea salt, the lime and vodka is invigorating and makes my skin feel bright.

The only reason why this didn't get 5 stars is personally the scent. Although I'm from Florida, and the smell of the ocean is appealing to me, this was too strong for me. That will not stop me from repurchasing though!

My sister-in-law swears by this shampoo and conditioner scent, and I can see why it works for so many people. I, on the other hand, did not like this set at ALL.

Now to be 100% fair, the reason why this didn't work out for me is definitely because of my hair type. So I hope I can help those who have hair similar to mine.

My hair is thick (but fine), dry, color treated, and coarse. I had just gotten my hair colored, and went to Ulta asking for assistance regarding a shampoo/condition set that's nourishing and good for color-treated hair. The worker that assisted me sent me to this line (mainly because it was on sale, so it was a good deal on the wallet).

Basically, I should've paid more attention. The reason why I'm giving this 2/5 instead of 1/5 is definitely because of the ingredients. This shampoo and conditioner set IS in fact Sulfate Free, which is great.

But here is where it got ugly for me...You need to understand that this will do as it claims: it IS very volumizing, BUT this dried out my hair and stripped my scalp and any natural oils it had. I felt like I was 5 again, when my mom would use a crap ton of detangler...this product emphasized my dry, brittle, and coarse hair.

Now, if you have soft and silky hair (my sister-in-law has naturally straight, silky, and soft hair), this will works wonders - It will give you volume if your hair is flat.

For me personally, it was a no-go. I should've done more research!
Review for Origins Checks and Balances™ - 3 months, 1 week ago

First of all, the new packaging (although not much different than the original) is beautifully modern.

This cleanser is an absolute dream for those with combination/oily skin. The scent isn't off-putting, and your skin feels squeaky clean without being stripped.

Now, let's talk a little bit about one of the active ingredients: Tourmaline. This is a quote off of Origins' website: "These energizing crystals are said to be effective at detoxifying and brightening skin while helping improve its vitality." That quote really sums up how my skin feels after using this cleanser.

ALSO, important tip: a little goes a long way. Considering that this is a foaming cleanser, you don't want to overdo it if you have dry patches!

The only reason is give this 4/5 is because of the price. I wish it was a little bit cheaper, but you do get a lot of of the tube!

Review for Burt's Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser - 3 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Although this cleanser is noted to be incredibly gentle, moisturizing, and soothing - I wasn't a fan. Now, I love Burt's Bees - but for some odd reason, this just didn't work well with me. I have sensitive, acne prone skin that's combination/oily, and not only did this break me out, but the feeling of my skin after was almost greasy rather than glowy.

I do applaud the texture, because I hate foaming cleansers, so it definitely won't strip your skin...and the ingredients are nice as well, I just wouldn't repurchase.

I was so sad that this didn't work out for me, because I know it's a cult favorite for so many people!

To note, I do tend to wear med-full coverage makeup a couple of times a week, so this cleanser isn't deep by any means. It doesn't go into pores to get the gunk out.

Review for: Fair more...
So here's the thing. This product never ceases to amaze me. Whenever I come back to this, I try remembering the reason why I abandoned it in the first place!

As an under-eye concealer, I rate this 4 stars ONLY because it does crease on me if not set/baked with a loose powder.

But lately, funds have been tight (that newly wed life!!) and it's sad to say that I've run out of ALL of the low and high end foundations I have.

On a whim, because I have very acne prone skin, I figured I would give this a try, not only under my eyes, but on my entire face - AGAIN, I'm desperate at this point!

This changed the game in my emergency. I'm not usually the type to wear much concealer, but this looks SO natural on the skin! I'm SO surprised! I just apply all over (lightly) and take my Elf buffing brush and BAM. It doesn't cling to dry patches - and my skin actually stays MATTE! WHAT?!

Also disclaimer - I do know that there is a foundation from the same "age rewind" line, more than one actually, but again...funds are tight...after seeing the effect of this concealer though, when I can, I'm actually curious to see how the foundation works!!

Review for: Goldlite more...
This cream is absolutely stunning. Not only am I able to wear the Goldlite shade (although I'm super pale), this would also be beautiful on darker skin tones. The undertone isn't too strong, and looks very natural - and quite hydrating!

The only reason why I'm not giving this 5 stars is this: Although the product is nice and hydrating, it's also a bit greasy...so just something to keep in mind if you have combo/oily/acne prone skin.

As long as I prep my skin correctly, this last all day without having to touch up! With moisturizer and a touch of primer underneath, this glow can be worn on it's own (if you're into that natural honeymoon glow from the inside-out), or I prefer a lightweight foundation on top (just to cover my hyper-pigmentation) - HIGHLY recommend wearing this product mixed in OR under MAC Face and Body Foundation! Especially in the summer time! :D

Review for Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin, 8 fl oz - 3 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
So, I've collected quite a few samples of this product to try because it takes some time for my skin to get used to new routines. This was recommended by my dermatologist, because even Cetaphil and Cerave can leave my skin feeling stripped sometimes (which is so unfortunate, because those are cheap and effective for so many other people!).

After using about four of the samples, I'm absolutely hooked. If I don't wear makeup, I'll only use this to cleanse my face. If I had worn makeup that day, I'll use an cleansing oil (Using Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil at the moment), then I will use the Vanicream as a neutralizer - rid my skin of chemicals from the cleansing oil that may irritate me.

Although this cleanser foams up slightly, I absolutely love that it doesn't suck the life out of my pores. It's simple to use, and soothing.

Would HIGHLY recommend to those who have combination and sensitive skin (acne prone).

Need to get my hands on the full size ASAP!

Review for MAKE UP FOR EVER STEP1 Skin Equalizer Primer - 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
If you like to stay MATTE - this is the product for you. This has been a staple in my routine for a couple of years now, but I've had to do multiple trial-and-error runs to find out how this wears the best. I like to put on a very hydrating moisturizer before hand, or mix this primer in with the moisturizer. This will emphasize dry skin, so I really recommend this strictly to those who are oily. Nowadays, I only use this on my cheek area and the creases of my nose (as long as my skin is properly hydrated beforehand). Your makeup will stay put, and a little goes a long way. I will continue to repurchase during the spring and summer time, as I do not really need this mattifying primer during the colder months.
