A woman, a daughter (to more than just one mother), a sister (to a brother by choice and not by birth), a student (the life-long status which will never be erased by another formal graduation), a professional, and finally a migrant. All those categories have shaped me into the person I am, never at peace, eager to learn, discover and grow. I am obsessed with new places, Korean beauty products, and anything that can make my travelling more enjoyable, from comfy clothes to packing gear.
Mask’s regular price is CAD$11.00 which is steep... honestly, if it wasn’t part of the package, I would have never paid that much for 1 mask. You probably wonder now if I’ll repurchase it again. Yes, but only if it is on sale. As much as I loved it, I can’t justify paying that much on a regular basis. Especially, when there are much cheaper alternatives out there (Soo'Ae products go for 30% of the same price and I found them just as amazing!) 💊The mask claims to provide solutions for acne, blemishes, pores and dull looking skin. It contains glutathione and niacinamide for brighter skin and tea tree oil to absorb excess oils. 🔍The cool thing about this mask is its super fine texture. I haven’t seen anything like it before: the material is so light yet seems firm. I also liked that it wasn’t too soaked in the serum, so after I removed it there was no sticky feeling from all the excess product. 🌟Now... did it deliver on all the promises? I think so. With snow and then rapid change into double digits within a week, my face started looking patchy. Add to that monthly breakouts and it needed some extra care. The couple of pimples appeared less red the next morning and the overall complexion just looked better. The skin felt hydrated and smooth to the touch which is not always the case for me when using tea tree oil infused masks. 📝Do I recommend it? Only if you are willing to pay that price :)
The 3 sugars and cocoa one smells divine, is intended for 3x weekly uses and does leave your skin silky smooth! I didn’t have any reaction to it except that I found my skin plumper and glowing after each use. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised by your regular drugstore skin care products this time:) I still need to get the 3 sugar one to complete my collection...
This Harakeke set by the Saem got me through the 8 months of Canadian winter. My skin loved the toner, emulsion and the rich cream. Everything about it from the gentle smell to amazing consistency is worth loving! And I got it all on sale for basically third of the original price!!! Now I am eyeing their Iceland collection...
I think everyone has already heard of all the health benefits of fermented food consumption. Be it kimchi, kefir, or sake (must be consumed responsibly 😂), the final results are great! Apparently, fermentation byproducts, just like Galactomyces, are miracle workers for your skin too! Apart from the $6.00 price on it (I know!!!!), I did my research and thought this would be perfect to try in the summer. And here’s why: 🍶Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (GFF) is said to be effective in moisturizing, brightening, controlling sebum production, decreasing acne and increasing elasticity. 🍶It also reduces skin pigmentation and dampens oxidative stress (when your body can’t cope and counteract toxins). After 8 months of Canadian winter I try to spend every free minute I have outside. And as important as sun screen is, I feel like my face also needs a good hydration boost. I’ve incorporated this essence in my AM and PM routines and in the past 2 weeks I haven’t had any fully developed pimples! I would notice redness and think - oh there we go again - and then nothing! I have been using other new products as well, but none of them has any acne decreasing properties, so I would assign this success entirely to the GFF.
My pores got noticeably less visible (!), but this might have been a cumulative effect of other products in my routines. The biggest surprise with the GFF is that once on your skin, it literally evaporates and feels like nothing! It leaves no film whatsoever, just refreshed and dry to the touch skin. And that’s why I find it perfect for summer when I tend to simplify my routines and avoid layering. All I use is a toner, this essence, my Dr. Althea Water cream, Dr. Jart sun screen, and my B.B. cream and so far my face hasn’t felt dehydrated at all!
Review for: Bliss triple oxygen energizing foaming mask with cpr technology, 3.4 oz more...
Seeing Bliss products everywhere I got curious about the hype. Having checked the price of some I calmed down 😝 I find that local Winners (Marshalls or TJX equivalent in Canada) carries some of those once in a while. Naturally, when I saw Bliss jars and boxes on the shelf, I figured I could give it a try for a discounted price of $10. I have 4 jars of moisturizers, didn’t feel like I needed a lifting treatment, so I settled for a wash off mask (own only 3 of those at the moment). First, what it claims it does: 🎈 Instantly revitalizes, energizes and supercharges skin’s natural defences, resulting in healthy, glowing, youthful skin. 🎈 It promises to rejuvenate your skin with the help of gradual oxygen release formula. I’m no chemist 👩🔬 and don’t pretend to know everything... but Oxygen, really? I mean, come on, isn’t that what we breath? Got home, did some research - there’s none regarding benefits of oxygen used in skin treatments, but some concerns do exist! So dismissed the whole thing as just a name, a marketing thing really. The mask does contain vitamin C & E and grape seed extract, and those I have no problems with.
How does it look like and what does it do: the formula is pink and gel like. You really need a pea sized amount to lather all over your face. When it comes in contact with water, it self activated into micro bubbly foam that disappeared within 5 mins. It is a wash off product, so I assume in 5 mins my skin didn’t get all the benefits of the above mentioned vitamins and extract. On a good note, it doesn’t dry my skin and actually works as a cool morning cleanser (whether it says it is, I am using it as one)! Will I repurchase? Probably not. I satisfied my curiosity about the texture and the product itself. It didn’t damage my skin, there were no break outs, but it didn’t woo me either. I do want to try other Bliss masks though ... once they are available at my local Winners
My problem with juices out there is the amount of sugar in them. It may taste fine and even have that natural acidity to it, but if you check he nutritional value of it, you’ll see that there’s nothing natural about double or even triple the daily sugar consumption norm in one small container. Unfortunately, store bought juices are a big no-no in my family.
For a cheaper drugstore nail polish, I find that Revlon is quite competitive, especially with shimmery colours. I would still add the top base to it no matter the brand, but it generally lasts good 4-5 days. Well done!
This was the first curler I purchased and since I didn’t have anything to compare it to at the time, I thought that was it! 3 curlers later, I know that to perform the way it’s supposed to a curler needs a spring! So this one gets only 3 stars from me for being somewhat flimsy and sometimes not giving my eye lashes the curl they deserve.
As much as I love Biotherm, not all products work the same for my skin. This mousse was really drying for my skin, unfortunately. And I wasn’t a fan of its rather chemical fragrance. Will be sticking to the other line of skincare products for now.
