I received a free sample of this product to test from pinchme. It is an OTC sleep aid medication that is made with the same active ingredient that is in benedryl (diphenhydramine), which I’m sure many of you have experienced drowsiness with. It is super common to use this medication to aid sleep, and is something I have done off and on since my teens. I do find that you can become reliant on it, BUT I find that the reliance fades pretty quickly for me (within 1-3 nights). I used this product in its capacity both as a sleep aid and also an anti-histamine because my mast cell disorder tends to act up right before bed. For the mast cell disorder-which causes intense whole body itching-It works just as well as the brand name and store brand benedryl that I have used. The ZZZQuil also worked to help me sleep when I had trouble doing so despite taking my regular prescription insomnia meds. I find that taking a little of this med can push me over the hump if my regular meds aren’t working-and acts pretty fast too.
Unless this product is somehow drastically cheaper than buying benedryl, I probably won’t be switching to it though. One big reason is the packaging. The blister packs for this product are some of the worst I have ever experienced. I have no idea why they make them so difficult. I ended up needing scissors, which I had to find, which was annoying to have to do late at night when I was having trouble sleeping (and caused me to be MORE awake). I also dislike the fact that you can’t open each pill individually-you must open two at once which means you must either take both pills, or find a safe place to store the other one. Considering the fact that you are taking it late at night, I don’t know how many people will bother with that. I can see untaken pills being a hazard to children and pets.
I do like the fact that this is a “single medication” product. I prefer to know what meds I am taking and ONLY take meds I need, which is why I don’t buy combo products. Therefore I appreciate when manufacturers make single medication products like this.
Final Verdict: Unless I can find this product super cheap, I will be sticking to buying brand and generic benedryl for my OTC sleep aid needs.
I received a free sample of Carefree Acti-Fresh pantyliners from Influenster to try. I have been a user of the Carefree Original pantyliners since my early teens, and have always loved that they are individually wrapped in a portable size. These new carefree liners also offer the same benefits, AND have slightly less wrapping which I appreciate due to it being more environmentally friendly. The original liners have straight sides and rounded ends. The new ones have curved sides (body/hourglass shape) and rounded ends. Honestly, I’m not a fan of the curved sides…I don’t find it terribly necessary, and it leaves areas uncovered. I was sent the “regular” liners-which are not long enough to offer adequate coverage. As well-the curves of it do not match my own curves, making it bunch up awkwardly. They do offer long and even extra long sizes however, and I believe I will go ahead and purchase one of those options and see if it’s a better fit. I wish they had sent me a variety pack to experiment with that aspect of the product, actually. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons:
Pros: -Less wrapping than the original liners -Individually wrapped, easily portable -Tapered edges make the liner less noticeable -For areas that were covered there was no leakage -Offered in a variety of lengths
Cons: -Adhesive doesn’t seem quite strong enough-liner came off my underwear and stuck to me instead on a few occasions…Yikes! Pulled hairs! -“Regular” size isn’t long enough to fit my body shape correctly-not enough coverage -Curved sides don’t fit my body and cause awkward bunching
Final verdict-not the correct size for me, BUT a longer size might work better. As is, this is not a comfortable liner.
I received a free sample of this product to try from Loreal. It lathers well, but smells like a cross between soap and hairdye. Very unappealing, AND the smell stayed with me for a few days afterward (despite having used several other scented hair products!). I didn't notice any difference in my hairs smoothness after rinsing this product out. I seriously doubt I would ever buy more due to the smell. I DO like the accompanying conditioner though!
I was given a free sample of this product from Loreal. It has a creamy consistency, spreads evenly on hair, and is thick enough that it doesn't drip off. This conditioner has a clean fresh scent that I did not find objectionable. My hair was noticeably smoothr after I rinsed this product out! It was also static free after using this product...which is a problem I have been struggling with. I am seriously considering buying more of this conditioner.
Review for: Gillette Venus with a Touch of Olay Shave Gel, Violet Swirl, 7 oz more...
This is a review that I posted to my blog and thought I'd post here also, in order to help more people.
I received a free sample of this shave gel from Venus to try, and here are my thoughts- (In a hurry? Check out my quick pros and cons list below!). First, I want to say that I do not ordinarily use shave gel or anything other than water while I shave, so this was a new experience for me. I found that the gel comes out of the container very fast and so you may end up with way more than you need. On the plus side, a little bit of gel does lather quite well! So-if you can get a small amount to come out, I believe you could get many uses out of one container. I did not find this product to be moisturizing in the least, and it seems to leave a sticky residue behind. The shave I got when using it, was subpar compared to my usual routine of using just running water over my leg as I shave. The gel seemed to clog the razor. I let hubby try it on his face as well and he also did not like it compared to his usual use of shampoo as his shaving product. As well-the accompanying razor that I got (Venus Swirl), has MoistureGlide serum on the head making shave gel even less useful. The scent is mild and pleasant-I think it smells like cucumber. Here is my quick breakdown of the pros and cons:
Pros: -Cute purple colored gel -A little goes a long way -Mild, pleasant cucumber-like scent
Cons: -Clogs razor -Drying to skin -Comes out of can very fast -Seems to leave a little sticky residue
Final verdict-I will definitely not be purchasing this Violet Swirl shave gel (or any other shave gel for that matter). To me it is an unneeded product under any shaving circumstance for women, but especially with the moisturizing serum on the razor head!
I really love their Ultra Plush variety in the purple packs! Soft and non irritating, but also strong with no dingle berries! I prefer to buy this at target because they have these HUGE packs, but inside those are individually wrapped 6 packs. You can really stock up, but then teh individual wrapping helps with storage!
I posted this to my blog: I received a free sample of this product to try from PINCHme. One issue I had was that this sample did not provide enough product to wash all my hair, so my experience was colored a bit by that. (I ended up having to rewash my hair with my regular shampoo.) This sample didn't make much suds, which many products don't nowadays due to having less harsh detergents in them, but that means you must use more product and there simply wasn't enough in the sample. If you like suds, this is NOT the product for you! I feel like it also didn't do what it claims. It is supposed to be deeply cleansing, but I felt like it was more of a balancing shampoo that you would use regularly. My regular suave shampoo is more cleansing than this was and it isn't even a clarifying formula! If you are looking for a basic, low suds balancing shampoo, this might work, but I feel like there are probably better products out there for that.
This is a review I posted to my blog: Went to Olive Garden this week to use my free birthday dessert coupon. First, I want to say that the coupon terms are not simple to comply with. To get the free dessert, you must buy two entrees. Pizza and garden salad do not count as entrees for the purpose of the coupon. So, I decided to try the never ending pasta bowl, and hubby got the tour of Italy. The pasta I got was penne with alfredo, and I added the chicken frita for extra cost. It was very good, but the problem I had was that I felt like I had to stuff myself with as much as I could eat to get my money’s worth. So-unless you can comfortably eat a lot I don’t recommend ordering this entrée or you may find yourself overeating as well. I ordered the Pumpkin “Cheesecake” to go as my free dessert. I put the word cheesecake in quotes because this is nothing like any pumpkin cheesecake I have ever had. It tasted like pumpkin pie…and not very good pumpkin pie at that! There was no creaminess to it at all, with the exception of the thin layer of white stuff on top. The texture was somewhat grainy as well. As well, there was no caramel sauce on my piece as had been advertised. I am glad I didn’t pay for this pie since I don’t think it was worth the retail price I would have been charged. I will NOT be buying their pumpkin “cheesecake” again.
