24. Half Japanese. Makeup addict. Gamer. Die-hard metalhead. Tatted and pierced. Crazy cat lady. Trilingual. Too smart for my own good. Brutally honest. I'm here to try new products and review them for others to learn the truth before buying.
I got the Maybelline "The City Mini Palette" in the color scheme "Rooftop Bronzes". This was received complimentary from Influenster for testing and review purposes.
Pros: -Seemingly sturdy packaging -6 different shades to choose from -Each shade differs from the others but stays within the designated color scheme -Great color payoff for 4 of the shades -Not overly dusty, so application shouldn't be too messy on cheeks -Colors stay for a couple hours on top of shadow primer (on my oily skin) -Shimmer is very fine instead of large sparkles -Packaging includes clear window to see each shade without opening the palette
Neutrals: -This palette ONLY has shimmery shades; no mattes whatsoever -Does not include a small applicator like similar cheap eyeshadow palettes -No pink shades that would do well with bronzes; ONLY browns, tans, and beiges
Cons: -2 of the darker shades require more material to show color (not great color payoff in these 2 shades) -Comes packaged with a cheap, paper casing/sleeve that looks unappealing (matter of opinion) -Did not last all day on top of shadow primer (on my oily skin)
All in all, I think bronze shadows look lovely on every skin color, and these shades shouldn't be any different. For being one of the cheaper makeup palettes around, my expectations did not waver much from my impressions upon receiving this. I would have definitely liked to see some slightly pink shades included with the bronze, though; Other than that, I think this is a pretty good palette for the price I think it is sold for.
(Again, I received this palette complimentary from Influenster and Maybelline for testing and review purposes.)
I absolutely love Sephora. If there's any beauty product that I need, I always check here first. I might as well, too, since they offer a free rewards program (they give you a birthday gift during your birthday month, too) and I have accumulated so many; I'm a VIB Rouge, which is the top of three possible rewards tiers (Beauty Insider-->VIB-->VIB Rouge). Prices are the same as you'll find on a product's website, so there's no reason to buy anywhere else, especially when you can buy from multiple brands at once and have it all shipped for a flat rate of about $5 (free for VIB Rouge). Sephora also has their own affordable line of makeup and beauty products that aren't half bad. Totally worth it.
Unlike Tinder, OKC lets you create an entire profile that can be as detailed as you want. It's not about shallow appearances here; it's about depth and personality. They have a Tinder-like feature too, called Quick Match. They also have an interesting "Match Calculator" that works by asking members many questions that are to be answered with a multiple choice answer (that they let you explain yourself for each answer as well); their calculator then matches you with people it thinks you'll cooperate with, and tells you the exact match percentage as well. These questions range from hygiene (e.g. "How often do you brush your teeth?") to politics (e.g. "Do you prefer privatized or socialized healthcare?") to math and logical reasoning (e.g. "What is 946/32?"). Oh, and I met my fiancee on here =)
I highly recommend this FREE service. There is a paid option, but it's really not necessary at all, unlike Match.com or others. This is totally, absolutely the way to go; and no, it's not full of weird, creepy people. That is not to say, though, that there are some terrible people in the world who take advantage of the anonymity of the internet. Do be careful and trust your instincts. I may have met my future husband here, but I also have lived my share of scary encounters where I truly feared for my safety.
The Lash GoLean Dark Cocoa Power is pretty good for being a fairly health-conscious powder mix. It tastes better than some other chocolate mixes, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it myself. It's straightforward to mix and versatile enough to add other ingredients, but the flavor just isn't for me. I received this product for free for testing purposes.
Pretty good for a Sugar substitute. I personally prefer real sugar to the fake stuff, but I know it's not healthy so I try to stay away from it. But this isn't that bad, actually. I don't get that awful chemical taste from aspartame from this stuff. Give it a try! I received this for free to test.
There is no better scent in the world, in my opinion. I bought mine from an airport (yay, tax free!) and the packaging and bottle are gorgeous. Of course, Chanel is expensive, but SO worth it. It is the classiest, flirtiest scent a woman can wear, and I run out of this quickly. I just... I can't begin to explain how perfect this perfume is. I need to find the parfum version of this, instead of the cheap eau de toilette.
This mascara really is pretty good. I find that the brush is much better for volumization than other brushes, which is great. It doesn't clump for me at all. The price is alright, but of course there are cheaper options. The only problem is that it definitely smudges all over my eyes, and even if I skip my lower lash line, I still get raccoon eyes from my top lashes. It doesn't hold my curl (I use a curler) at all, either. It's a great mascara that doesn't do the "tube" technology (my ultimate go-to).
Pretty good razors for a really good price! Dollar shave club starts at a dollar, with the second tier at $5 and the third at $10 (I think). Something like that. Anyway, you pay more per month for more blades per razor, and each comes in a pack of for in one cartridge per month. You can add goodies like the "soothing, after-you-poo" wipes and shave butter. Four stars because more blades isn't better-- they use cheap steel.
This mascara is my saving grace. I have seriously long lashes but very few of them. I have super oily skin and my eyes year up when I yawn. None of this is conducive to wearing mascara, as I'll develop raccoon eyes very quickly, an hour after putting the mascara on. Well guess what?! This mascara DOESN'T SMUDGE OR RUN! It actually makes tubes, as you can see from when you remove it. Oh, and you only need to press a wash cloth with warm water to remove it! This stuff adds volume like nothing else can, giving me amazing lashes every time. I got this from this month's Sephora Play and I must admit I'm going to wear this every day and buy a full time when I'm out. Oh, and it dries quickly, so no "oh ****!!! My eye makeup is ruined!" Only problem is that it comes in a shrink-wrapped plastic that takes forever to get off...
This is an absolute dream come true. It's all natural, smells faint but pleasant, and works amazingly before serums and essences to make them more effective. It leaves your skin SUPER hydrated, too! After my first use (after my first use of Son and Park's Beauty Water too), I noticed my skin felt super quenched and actually plumped! I was surprised because I had never felt that before, but it was pleasant and I know it was a really good thing. Definitely need to pick this up of you haven't yet. A little goes a LONG way too, so GPO ahead and pick up the bigger size!
