Review for Maybelline FaceStudio® Master Prime Primer - 7 months, 1 week ago

Review for: Hydrate + Smooth more...
I'm not a huge fan of primers because they have a tendency to clog my pores, but this one is great for wearing under a matte foundation that you want to have a slightly more natural appearance. When paired with the Maybelline Dewy and Smooth foundation, it got a little too greasy-looking so prefer to wear it under my matte foundations.

I have combination skin that tends to fall on the drier side of the spectrum, especially during the winter. This foundation does a good job adding dewiness without making me look greasy or sweaty. I will say that it can get cakey around the nostrils and has clung to dry patches (when my skin was way drier than normal) but all in all, I think it adds a radiance and glow that is healthy and not overly airbrushed.

Review for Aveeno Ultra-calming® Makeup Removing Wipes - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
I forgot to pack my makeup wipes on vacation and had to stop at a Walmart to pick some up. As I almost exclusively use Ole Hendricksen cleansing wipes for makeup removal, which aren't carried at Walmart, I knew that I would have to substitute for something similar. I've heard good things about Aveeno products and figured that because my skin is hyper sensitive and these wipes are "ultra-calming" that they would be just fine, right? Wrong. First of all, these have such a weird, overpowering smell that reminds me of old perfume and a bar of soap. I found it odd that a product marketed as ultra-calming would have such a strong scent, but nevertheless I went ahead and used the product.

Aside from the smell, I struggled removing makeup with these wipes. Even foundation was having a hard time coming off and I never felt like my face was entirely clean. Trying to remove eye makeup with these wipes is a definite no-go as you will inevitably end up scrubbing your eyelid and getting the wipe in your eye.

And after all that, they still broke me out and gave me a splotchy rash all across my cheeks. The Neutrogena wipes are a much better alternative.

Review for Tweezerman Fashion Color Slant Tweezer - 1 year, 3 months ago

When I first saw the price of these tweezers I was taken aback. After all, how expensive can a pair of tweezers possibly be? I mean, they all do the same thing, right? Wrong. After spending years using those cheap drugstore tweezers and feeling like my skin was on fire, the first time I used these was like a breath of fresh air. I no longer dread tweezing my eyebrows! They grab each hair with ease and make pulling it out as painless and fast as possible. And these tweezers don't get dull, so it is essentially a one-time purchase (unless you lose them, of course).

Review for: Lover more...
I love finding awesome drugstore makeup (who doesn't like saving money?), so this is a total win for me. It goes on like a dream and is super pigmented, so you only need one coat for beautiful, full-color lips. To be honest, I was a little bit skeptical about the application as I have never owned a liquid lipstick that had an application like it, but it does a great job at evenly distributing the product.

It is sticky for a few minutes after you first apply it, but after that it does dry down into a completely matte finish that last FOREVER. Oh, and it is incredibly comfortable. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror as I was washing my hands and had to do a double-take because I totally forgot I was wearing lipstick!

I haven't had much luck with L'Oreal products in the past, so I was hesitant to try this. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It adds the perfect about of length and volume with very little clumping.

The reason why I gave it four stars is because it has irritated my eyes on a few occasions, so I wouldn't recommend it for long wear (7+ hours).

This is such a good foundation. Overall, I think it is a great option for a higher-end full coverage foundation for people with various skin types.

Unlike some other influensters, I didn't find it to be totally full coverage. In my opinion, in is more of a high medium coverage because some discoloration does show through. However, you can build up the coverage in any areas that may need more coverage.

I wouldn't recommend this as a summer foundation because I have found that it does break up and slide around when out in the sun/heat for long periods of time. But for winter, it is ideal.

I have extremely sensitive skin and Tarte is one of the only makeup brands that doesn't make me break out, but I have found that if I wear this foundation consecutively for a week or two, I will start to breakout. I don't think this is the product so much as it is my skin, but I felt like it was important to note in case any other people have a similar skin type.

Review for Rimmel London Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner - 1 year, 3 months ago

I made the unfortunate mistake of purchasing this as my first liquid liner thinking that the felt tip would mean an easy application. This is NOT the case. I really wanted to like this product and I have tried it numerous times, but I honestly can't find a reason to keep trying it at this point.

The first problem I have with this is the felt tip itself. The thin/think tip may sound good in theory but it doesn't work well in practice. When I first used it, I tried to do a wing and made such an ugly, fat line that I ended up removing all my eye makeup. I tried it multiple times and had the same result. Fast forward a year or so, and I finally purchase the Tarte "lights, camera, lashes" felt tip liner. I discovered an actual liner. After becoming good with liquid liner, I decided to try the Rimmel liner again, thinking that it was just my inexperience that made it bad. Sure enough, I got the same result.

The liner also requires at least two coats for it to be moderately opaque, drastically increasing the chance of mistakes. It also runs and smudges easily.

The only thing that I would recommend this liner for would be short-term wear for a photoshoot and avant-garde work because it can't create a precision cat eye like advertised (at least in my experience).

Review for tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara - 1 year, 3 months ago

I normally love Tarte products, but this was a disappointment. It is definitely very natural-- almost too much so. I have long, dark eyelashes, so for a mascara to be noticeable on me it needs to add a lot of volume and length. Unfortunately, this mascara didn't do either of these things. I didn't see a difference between my bare lashes and my lashes with this mascara. It did work well as a base mascara because it isn't flaky or clumpy, but on it's own it is underwhelming.

If you have light (blonde) lashes, this might work very well, but if you already have dark lashes and are looking for something to add volume and length, you might want to considers Tarte's "lights, camera, lashes" mascara instead-- that one works SO much better!
