Review for M.A.C Cosmetics Eye Brows - 1 year, 1 month ago

I got this in a Boxycharm box last year and really like it. The tip is very fine, allowing me to draw very realistic "hairs." My only issue is that I like eyebrow pencils that already have a spoolie on the other end.

I love that I was able to get 4 of these mini ones for less than the price of a full-size one. I also like that, even though some (icing and starlight) looked very similar in the jar, they are not as similar on the eye. Icing is more rose-gold, while starlight is more nude and looks like just sparkles on my eyes. There is no fallout during application due to the thick, gel-like consistency; however, there can be some after it dries if you accidentally touch your eye. The formula also seemed pretty consistent across all 4 shades.

My biggest gripe is that after 2 months, they're already starting to dry out even though I've made sure to seal them properly. All the product is sticking to itself forming a little ball inside the jars. This has also made application harder because it adheres to my brush or finger (and therefore my eyes) unevenly.

Conclusion: I wouldn't buy a full sized one of these given my deluxe sized ones are drying out already.
Review for IT Cosmetics® Brow Power™ Universal Eyebrow Pencil - 1 year, 1 month ago

Not really a fan. As far as application, you don't really have to press hard in order to get color to show, which is great, and it is buildable, so if you press harder the color is darker. However, it is hard to layer the product as it seems to "lift" up previous layers (something that has never happened to me with other brow products), so given that the shade is overall too light, it ends up looking off. Also, drawing darker layers also means pressing the pencil a bit more, which given the shape of the pencil is challenging...I am not a fan of the shape - it's like an oval, so it is challenging to apply hair-like strokes. I do like that it includes a spoolie, and have no issues with the spoolie itself.

Review for Grande Cosmetics GrandeLIPS Plumping Lip Primer: Clear Matte - 1 year, 1 month ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I really like this gloss: it is not sticky, although you CAN feel that you are wearing a lip product since it's a bit slippy. It is also buildable - the color will be more intense if you apply more - which I have not experienced much with glosses. "Hot Fuchsia" can be soft and rosy or a bright, warm pink. I don't notice any more "plumpness" in my lips, and although I have not tried any other lip plumping products, I know  they can "burn" sometimes. However, this one does not feel that way, but it does have a slight minty tingle. It is also very hydrating (which my eternally dry lips love!) and wears out gracefully despite the noticeable color.

My one complaint is the applicator, which is rubber with a "track" in the center that releases product as you click the bottom of the tube (like a pen). It's hard to control how much product comes out, and it seems like holding the tube upside down helps make the gloss come out faster. My other complaint is that it seems expensive, and I don't think I would pay the full price for it.

Review for stila Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I got a sample of this in my August 2017 birchbox in the shade "Perla," which is not at all flattering on me (too light and cool toned for an NC25-30ish). The applicator is adequate and nothing out of the ordinary. However, I think the formula is both somewhat thick and dries very quickly. So it is hard to apply thin layers, and it sets very quickly. I also find it dries down completely, which is great as far as non-transfer goes, but terrible as far as moisture goes. My dry lips cannot handle this formula, but I like how many colors they offer.

Review for The Ordinary. Lactic Acid 10% + HA - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
Like all other The Ordinary products I own, my favorite thing about this is definitely the price! However, I also like how easy it is to use, and how quickly I saw results. I started out using it every 2 days, and now I use it every other day/about 3 times per week. My skin looks brighter and feels more hydrated without feeling oilier. It can sting a little, however, and I do recommend starting out with the 5% version first.

Review for Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette 12 Unique Shadows - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I received this in a Boxycharm box this year. I only had 3 other palettes at that point, so I was super excited to get this and play with it, but I honestly have not touched it that much. I already had most of these colors in the other 3 palettes I had, and those have better formulas. The formula is pretty middle-of-the-road in terms of pigmentation, hard to blend, and the lighter colors all look the same on me and are ashy. The shimmers are best applied wet or with your finger, which I don't mind doing. However, I literally never use this and I wish I had sold it instead.

Review for amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo - 1 year, 3 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
I got a deluxe sample of this in one of my Birchboxes this year - either July or August. I did not have very high expectations for this since most dry shampoos I have tried seem pretty useless. One day I was running late and noticed my hair looked awful, so I decided why not. And it did not disappoint at all! It smells really good, absorbs oil enough to get through an extra day, and though it initially does leave a white-ish cast on my dark hair, it is easy to brush this away. Very pleased and will purchase another when I run out...which is another thing - it seems to last a long time!

Review for Aquaphor® Healing Ointment - 1 year, 4 months ago
Love this for my chronically dry lips! And even for my skin when it's feeling dry (although that's rare nowadays). I use this every single day to keep my lips dry and comfortable. It doesn't really matter which one to get - there are different containers, but the product itself is the same as far as I understand (minus the ones that contain SPF, those are the same + SPF). I have personally tried the little tub, the one for the lips (both with and without SPF) and one that is a large squeezable bottle, and they all perform the same. I started using this when I went on Accutane because other lip balms were NOT cutting it and my lips were constantly dry, peeling, and painful. I still have super dry lips that peel semi-often, but nowhere near as badly as when in Accutane and this is still my go-to!

This IS pretty similar to vaseline, but I do think this is better, and the ingredients are not exactly the same. I prefer this over vaseline because it's a bit thicker in texture so it has less slip but still doesn't feel like a film of stuff over your lips. My only complaint with this product is that it can't be applied normally over lip products and it doesn't always play nice with lip products even when applied under them. Typically, I try to apply a super thin layer under some lip products and if I have to wear it over, I dab it on making sure not to rub or drag because otherwise it makes the product underneath streaky.

This also is a great occlusive moisturizer. I don't use it this way since my skin has reverted to its combo/oily state after Accutane, but I would use it when my typical moisturizer didn't feel hydrating enough. It is messy, however, so I would sleep with a clean towel every night and with my hair tied away from my face.
