Review for SEPHORA COLLECTION Colorful Waterproof Eyeliner 24 HR Wear - 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I need to confess that this is, essentially, my first and only liquid eyeliner. I tried one briefly about a decade ago, but I don't remember my opinion on it.
I bought this because I wanted to try something more colorful and because I wanted to copy a "double eyeliner" look a friend uses, and that doesn't seem to work with eyeliner pencils.
I found it fairly simply to apply, and it isn't blotchy. I've only used it a handful of times over a couple of weeks, so that could change. I haven't managed a double liner, yet, because I'm still working on getting a steady enough hand to apply this evening, but I will get there eventually!
The 05 Surfin USA turquoise color makes me happy. It's lighter than my eyeliners usually are, but it doesn't wash me out. I have hooded eyes, so having this colorful eyeliner really adds something to my three minute out the door look!
I'm going to buy more of these as soon as the other colors are back in stock!

Review for SEPHORA COLLECTION V for V.O.L.U.M.E. Mascara - 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I've only used the Marsala color, and I'm very happy with it. The color looks incredibly natural on my lashes, so it makes a good everyday mascara for days when I'm not wearing makeup.  I'm a brunette, but the reddish tint is fairly subtle. I've recommended it to redheaded friends who also like it.
PROS*  The color applies beautifully on brown eyes and looks brown.*  Inexpensive mascara.*  Lashes look longer and fuller
CONS*  The color looks brown on my brown eyelashes. I had hoped it would look like this lovely henna red, but I guess that only happens for blonds?*  This is NOT a curling mascara. My lashes look even straighter after I use it. This is not a problem for me because I wear it on no make-up days or with simple "all natural" looks.*  It went clumpy within a couple of weeks. I mitigate this by brushing it over a makeup pad or tissue before applying, but that can get annoying.
This mascara is good enough. I have purchased it twice now because it's cheaper than other full-brown mascaras.  It's hard to find a true brown (as opposed to a black brown), so this is a wonderful item to keep stocked!

Review for Clinique Pep Your Pout Gift Set - 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
The daytime Pep Start is hydrating and lovely. When I posted a MOTD (makeup of the day) photo to my makeup group, I had more questions about the lip color than about the seven-color, perfectly blended matte and shimmer shadow du jour!! t's a sheer, soft pink that flatters my skin tone and makes my lips a bit "extra," so it literally matches everything I wear (which is surprising because lets face it, pink never matches EVERYTHING). t's sheer enough that when (not if, but when), I lick it off, leave it behind on a couple of coffee cups, etc., my lips don't get a weird "butt hole" look.
The nighttime Restoring lip mask works so well for me! I am amused that it's called a "lip mask," because it's really just a thick, thick lip balm. I've worn it during the day when I wanted extra soft lips in the evening. It's thicker, but while I wake up with it gone, I am unclear as to if it's soaked up or left behind.  It's not smeared on the skin around my face, and I don't see lip marks around my pillow, so who knows?
I'm so glad Clinique offered this package deal. The Clinique Pep line for facial products is too heavy for my oily skin, , so I decided to give the Pep line another try.  I am so glad I did! They're so great that I now keep this set at teh office and have purchased another set of the products individually so they are available to me when I'm not at work.

Review for popchips Sea Salt Potato Chips - 3 months, 4 weeks ago
Foodie Expert Level 2
These chips are tasty and low FODMAP, a combination that can be difficult to find in a snack food! I have picked them up a few times to bring to parties, but I can't keep them at home without eating an entire bag!

Review for Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner - 4 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I need to start this review by saying that I have scent sensitivities, and so I probably shouldn't have tried this toner. It worked well on my skin, but the scent just wasn't dissipating fast enough.

If you don't have scent sensitivities, this may very well be a great product for you. However, if you have scent sensitivities, Thayers has an Alcohol Free Toner without rose in it, and I use and recommend that all the time.

Review for COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch - 4 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
These patches did absolutely nothing for me. I followed the directions, but they would still fall off on their own. I have oily skin and minor hormonal acne.

I wouldn't recommend this, even though several of my friends swear by it.

Review for Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser - 4 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I switched from my Kate Somerville Cleanser to Murad because it was a bit cheaper. I have oily/combination skin. I have very mild, hormonal acne, but began to get a small amount of acne throughout the month after using this. The small dollar difference wasn't worth it. My acne increased when I started using this product.

PRO: My skin is sensitive, but I did not have a reaction to this cleanser (no burning, redness, or rash).

Review for Urban Decay X Kristen Leanne Kaleidoscope Dream Eyeshadow Palette - 4 months, 1 week ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I saw photos of this palette before it came out, and I knew I wouldn't get it because the layout is ridiculous. However, I swatched it in Sephora and walked right out the door with it (I paid for it, first!). It's fabulous!

PROS
- The shadows are highly pigmented
- The shadows blend really easily
- The two highlighter shades work well on eyes and cheeks
- There isn't heavy fallout (there is a small amount, though)
- I use TF Shadow Insurance Primer and UD Matte Setting Spray, and the looks I've done with this palette have lasted
- This is the softest, butteriest shadow I've used from UD

CONS
- The obnoxious layout of the palette makes this too large to toss in my purse. If they didn't have so much white space and such an ugly mismatch of shapes, this would be a great carry item.
- The black is horrible. I don't do smokey looks, and don't generally layer black under my shadows, so this is irrelevant to me.  I only tried it out so I could get a look at all the colors.
- It blends really easily. This is a pro, but it also means you have to be very careful to keep them from over blending (for example, the blue near the pink easily turns the entire pink into purple if I don't blend carefully).
- The weird orange matte makes a terrible blending shade for the rest of these shadows for someone with my super pale with pink undertones colored skin.  I also dislike the orange with these gorgeous jewel tones.

I love this palette. I am glad I decided to put up with the obnoxious design. I especially love the pink and the green.  I'm attaching what is a bad photo of me but a pretty decent photo of a look I did with this.  The colors are a more shimmery color in person.

I highly recommend this palette. I hope that UD's future eye shadows are this buttery and smooth.

Review for philosophy hope in a tube high-density eye and lip firming cream - 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 3
I've only used this on my eyes, so I can't speak for how it works on the lips.  I use this on my under eye area because I've had blue bags since I was a child (genetic).  They don't decrease the blueness, but the cream helps with some of the smaller wrinkles that are starting to surround the bags.

I use this very lightly, a wee tiny dab on each ring finger, then I pat it into the under eye area. Since I use such a small amount, the tubes last longer than I'd expected (which is good because at these prices, I can't afford a lesser cream!
