I got a box of these Russell Stover fine assorted chocolates as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. I am a big fan of fancy artisan chocolates, so I was a bit skeptical of these being that they are such a easily found mainstream brand. However, I was pleasantly surprised. They were absolutely delicious! The dark chocolate ones were my favorite, but the milk chocolate ones were pretty tasty as well. I think that I might start having to give these out as stocking stuffers as well.
I recently picked up one of these Global Beauty Care Dead Sea wash off mud masks at a local closeout store. For 49 cents, it was worth trying out. With most masks that I’ve tried you need to use all of the product that is in the container. I was pleasantly surprised that this is not the case with this one. This packet really could be used probably about three times. I wish that I knew that ahead of time and that the directions mention that though, because I initially thought that I had to use the whole thing in one use. That meant that I put this mask on really really thick and I used about 2/3 of it. Oops. It ended up taking absolutely forever to dry because of that. After close to an hour, it’s still was a bit moist in some of the thicker areas. Once I rinsed it off my face though, my skin did really feel wonderfully smooth and soft. Even though it is supposed to dry on your face, I didn’t find this mask to be drying at all.
In the last year or so, I’ve really become a fan of night creams. I found this Simple Vital Vitamin night cream on sale the other day, so I decided to try it out because I like the concept of using something with simple ingredients and no chemicals. Though this night cream is not my absolute favorite, it works pretty well especially given the much cheaper price point. If this was just slightly more hydrating, it would be amazing to use in the winter. So though this might not be the best night cream for me to use right now in these dryer months, I think I will be using this often during the rest of the year.
I’m always on the hunt for the perfect liquid lipstick, so I decided to try out this Stila Stay All Day in the color Beso. In the packaging it looks like it might be a little too much of an orangey red, but it did say that it was a true red so I figured I would give it a try. The red color is really great and even though I typically wear true reds or a bluish red, this worked wonderfully. There were no orangey tones to it once it was on my lips. It dried down in just a couple of minutes, and it definitely has staying power. However, I have worn it a couple of times now and sometimes I find it to be drying, but not always. What I really love about this liquid lipstick though is the finish of it. Once it dries down, it’s like this gorgeous velvety finish. It’s absolutely beautiful. Until now, I have mainly used the tarte Tarteist™ Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint, but its finish is nowhere near as amazing as this one. I might be switching over to Stila from now on.
I’m always a sucker for a good liquid lipstick, so after seeing decent reviews for this $2 one, I decided to give it a try. I wish I could say that this liquid lipstick is magical, but it really isn’t. It dries down fairly quickly, but the formula and applicator reminds me a lot of NYX Lip Lingerie. That’s not a good thing either. I find the LA Colors one to be extremely drying, but I will say that it does hold up better than the NYX ones. It’s actually pretty durable once it’s dry. Also, the color Eclipse just doesn’t work on my skin tone.
After 900+ reviews on here, I don’t think I’ve ever given something one star until now. I’ve used various products over the years for an eyeshadow primer, and nothing has given me problems like this PUR Get a Grip primer. I applied this primer and within a minute or two, I noticed that it felt like glue was somehow on my eyelids and drying. It was a really weird and uncomfortable feeling. Being that I had never used this product before, I tried to ignore it. After about 10 minutes, that weird glue drying sensation dissipated. When I then went to actually put my make up on I then noticed that this primer made my skin in my outer eye area look like a total mess. I don’t know if my eyes had watered from it or what but the primer had made for a dried cracked mess on the side of my eyes. This primer definitely does have a grip to it, because it was really difficult to get off where it had all settled and cracked. I had to do a lot of tugging on my skin around my eyes, which I really don’t like to do. Then when I went to actually apply eyeshadow, I packed some color onto my eyelids and it seemed fine, just like any other eyeshadow primer. The big problems didn’t start until I tried to blend some shadows though. You cannot blend with this product. It’s so sticky, and nothing will move. If you like to do any sort of blending at all with your eyeshadow, I suggest that you don’t use this product.
I got this finishing powder at Ulta in the shade Radiant Translucent. I am a big fan of pressed powders, and I’m interested in the concept of highlighters, so this powder intrigued me. This powder gave my skin a wonderful finished look, but with this really neat almost pearlescent shine. It wasn’t quite like a glow, this really is like a pressed finishing powder and highlighter kind of in one. As part of the Bye-Bye Pores line of IT Cosmetics products, I wondered if this really would make my pores disappear or lessen. I did not notice any difference though with my pores with this powder. It does give my skin a great finished look though, so I will still continue to use it.
Though I am such a huge fan of Merle Norman skin care products, I’ll admit that it is extremely rare for me to try any of their lipsticks just because I have some other brands that I really like. With that being said, I did decide to give this liquid lipcolor a try after getting it as a free with purchase on another item. Typically just about everything I wear is a liquid lipstick, but this formula is completely different than any other brand that I’ve tried. This formula is not wet at all. It really is as if a lipstick in a tube has been slightly melted and slightly liquefied. Because of that, it’s a little different to apply but it still goes on pretty easily. I have it in Sugar Kisses and it has a fantastic amount of shine. Unlike all other liquid lipsticks that I use, this one never really dries down at all. The consistency that it is when it arrives on your lips never changes. At first that made me a bit nervous, because typically with my liquid lipsticks unless it dries down there is a ton of transfer. Though this one never dried down, there’s really not any transference when you sip a drink or anything. There’s a tiny mark on the glass of an imprint, but it’s colorless. The color just stays on your lips. I’m impressed. It’s also nice to have a lipstick on that doesn’t dry my lips out too. I might have to get some more of these on other colors.
I got this Laura Geller lip gloss recently in the shade diamond dust. I am really not a fan of lipgloss. I find it so sticky and that is super annoying. However, this is the least sticky lip gloss that I’ve ever found. It is still a tiny bit sticky, but it is nowhere near as terrible as any other that I’ve tried. This shade is a bit more of a sheer in the sense that it doesn’t really have any color to it, it’s more just sheer with a little flecks of miniature glitter. I am initially got this thinking that it would be perfect as a shiny topper to some of my matte liquid lipsticks. I tried it on top of one of my BH Cosmetics Metallic Liquid Lipstick. It looked beautiful for probably 45 minutes. Soon after that, this lip gloss just made my liquid lipstick start to disintegrate. The center of my lips just had my liquid lipstick melting off. It was awful. I’ve never had that issue before with that lipstick, so I think it was because I put this lip gloss on top. Because of that, I will not be putting this lipgloss on top of any lipstick ever again. I might wear this lipgloss every once in a while so my lips can take a break from wearing any drying liquid lipsticks for a day or two. Other than that though, I unfortunately don’t think I’m going to be using this product that much.
