Review for tarte Drench Lip Splash Lipstick - 1 year, 8 months ago
Review for: Cabana Boy
Texture and Ease of Application - 4 out of 5 - I found the texture to be relatively smooth and easy to apply, without much need for building (some though). The texture almost reminds me of the Marc Jacobs lipsticks. A little dry feeling but soft.

Color and Pigmentation - 4 out of 5 - There was some building required, but this is a lovely rosey-mauve that is pretty well pigmented. This color should be universally flattering, but I feel like it would most compliment cool complexions.

Drying or Hydrating? - 3 out of 5 - This product was neither drying nor hydrating, but if I had to pick one, I'd say it was more hydrating. I didn't feel the need to chew the pigment off of my lips while wearing it.

Wear time: 4 out of 5 - I actually good a really awesome amount of wear time out of this, given the formula. It started to fade at 6 hours and left behind a lovely gentle rose-stain.

Overall: 3 out of 5 - Average

Review for: Rose
Texture and Ease of Application - 3 out of 5 - This is an extremely thick product. It heats up and melts as you apply it, so it will be quick to finish off compared to other lip rescues and tinted treatments I have tried in the past. The texture, though.. It feels like I have a high-gloss lacquer, or maybe even go so far as too much Aquaphor on my lips. It's not exactly pleasant, but it's not super sticky, which is the redeeming factor.

Color and Pigmentation - 2 out of 5 - I don't know what I was expecting out of a shade called "nude" - not much to begin with, I suppose. But there is virtually no pigmentation despite how thick the formula is. If anything, it will at least be universally flattering.

Drying or Hydrating? - 2 out of 5 - For a product that promises to intensely hydration your lips, this delivers... for a very brief amount of time. As the day wears on, I found it to be more drying, and I could not help but to chew on my lips. It's something you'd want to keep applying, like chap stick.

Wear time: 2 out of 5 - Virtually non-existent. I think I got maybe an hour out of this product before the pigmentation was gone and the hydration factor wore off.

Overall Results - 2 out of 5 - Poor

The bottom line: With how much this particular lip line touts hydration essences and long-term results, I just do not feel it with this color. It might work as a pre-lipstick hydration treatment - something you wear while you do the rest of your makeup and then remove before you put on your long-wearing lip color. It might work okay for that, and it would definitely have to be barely pigmented/non-staining, but it won't deliver long-term results like other products, like the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask.

I will not be procuring more of this product.

Review for: 714 (bright red)
This lipstick is definitely designed for any completion as it is a true-red, with slightly warmed undertones.

Texture and Ease of Application - 3 out of 5 - The texture on this is considerably more dry than other lipstick in this line. It does tug when you go to apply it, and skip on the lips. It's not the worst matte formula I've worked with, but it's not ideal.

Color and Pigmentation - 5 out of 5 - This is a very bright, true red that requires minimal effort to build. It is a full-opacity lipstick, by all means. In this case, the lip liner was used just as a liner, to prevent frustrations with the "mega matte" formula around the edges, due to tugging.

Drying or Hydrating? - 2 out of 5 - This is considerably more drying than any other shade in the line (go figure).
.
Wear Time - 5 out of 5 - Over 12 hours. It stayed put until I took it off.

Overall rating - 3 out of 5 - Average

Review for: Spiderweb (satin red cream)
This lipstick is definitely designed for cool-toned complexions, but I think this shade will compliment most skin tones. As this is made FOR Gwen (not collab), this should not be surprising.

Texture and Ease of Application - 4 out of 5 - The texture is very smooth and creamy. It glides right over the lips with great pay off. It's not patchy, by any means. It is a bit sticky, though.

Color and Pigmentation - 4 out of 5 - This is a bright, slightly cool-toned (berry?) red. It's paired liner is Rocksteady, and because of the darker liner, I did have to spend a bit of time building up the color so the very dark, vampy red wasn't as visible. It is a fantastic color, though, and very opaque.

Drying or Hydrating? - 3 out of 5 - This particular product was neither drying nor hydrating. It did cake a little on the inside of my lip, creating a ridge, which is annoying.

Wear Time - 5 out of 5 - Damn near 12 hours. I didn't loose this until dinner, where it was down to a nice, reddened stain.

Overall rating - 4 out of 5 - Good

Review for: Ex-Girlfriend (sheer nude)
This lipstick is definitely designed for cool-toned complexions, but I think this shade will compliment most skin tones. As this is made FOR Gwen (not collab), this should not be surprising.

Texture + Ease of Application - 2/5 - it might be because of my lips, but it wasn't easy to build up to a decent opacity. I am entirely reliant on the lip pencil for pigmentation. The texture is also very slippery. It feels more like a balm - almost exactly like the Fresh Lip Treatments.

Color + Pigmentation - 3/5 - This is a wonderful, slightly browned, cool-toned neutral pink. I personally love the color. However, it is so incredibly sheer, I get almost no pigmentation from it. I do get some if I really, really pack on the product, but then it slips and doesn't look very flattering.

Drying or Hydrating? - 4/5 - This is notably hydrating. It's not so much that you don't need to take proper lip care - exfoliation and hydration are both still important for good color, but it is definitely softening.

Wear Time - 2/5 - I'd say, probably an hour, maybe two at best. Because it is so sheer and so slippery, it transfers easily and slips off on it's own.

Overall rating - 3/5- Average.

Review for: Firebird (deep fuchsia)
This lipstick is definitely designed for cool-toned complexions, but I think this very unique shade will compliment most skin tones. As this is made FOR Gwen (not collab), this should not be surprising.

Texture + Ease of Application - 4/5 - The texture is very smooth and creamy. It glides right over the lips with great pay off. It's not patchy, by any means. It tugs just a little bit.

Color + Pigmentation - 5/5 - This is a truly unique, vibrant fuchsia with a strong blue shift. It does have one-swipe pay off, but the lip liner will definitely help depending on the pigmentation of your lips.

Drying or Hydrating? - 4/5 - This is notably hydrating. It's not so much that you don't need to take proper lip care - exfoliation and hydration are both still important for good color, but it is definitely softening.

Wear Time - 4/5 - I'd say, probably 4 hours. It didn't stand up very well to an apple. But it does leave behind a nice pink stain. All in all, it's not to bad.

Overall rating - 4/5- Good.

Review for: Rock Steady (deep wine red cream)
This lipstick is definitely designed for cool-toned complexions. I feel it would compliment the very fair amount us. As this is made FOR Gwen (not collab), this should not be surprising.

Texture + Ease of Application - 4/5 - The texture is very smooth and creamy. It glides right over the lips with great pay off. It's not patchy, by any means. It is a bit sticky, though.

Color + Pigmentation - 5/5 - This is a very deep, vampy red. It's a one-swipe, full-opacity shade. This is probably my favorite shade in the collection.

Drying or Hydrating? - 4/5 - This is notably hydrating. It's not so much that you don't need to take proper lip care - exfoliation and hydration are both still important for good color, but it is definitely softening.

Wear Time - 5/5 - After a theatre hot dog, a few drinks, and snacking, this lipstick only lost it's gloss. It wore almost 10 hours (I lost it at dinner), and leaves behind a very nice red stain.

Overall rating - 4/5- Good.
Review for Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Palette - 1 year, 9 months ago
I have a detailed shade by shade review on my FB page; GWilliReviews
Overall Rating: 3/5 "Average"
Summary:
A few of these shades are a bit patchy, I know of at least two that fade throughout the day despite using a very grabby primer. So, the bad shades are really bad, but the good shades are really good. Some are not as pigmented once applied as they are in the pan. Some have fallout. Some are absolutely to die for.

The bottom line:
I would really like to give this a higher rating, because I do very much love this palette, but math is correct here. That said, I see a lot of both office safe and date night bold looks coming out of this. Too Faced is geared mostly towards pale girls, so this will suit fair, light, and light/medium skin tones the best as a whole, but there are some shades here that I think would actually look better on deeper skin tones - like Molasses Chip, or some of the super fine lighter pinks.
Review for Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick - 1 year, 9 months ago
I have a shade by shade review on my FB page \GWilliReviews
Three shades are opaque, three are sheer and glittery.
The texture for the opaque three are that of a melted cream lipstick - like if you had just gotten an order, or left a lipstick in the car on a hot summer day. The other three are more like a balm.
In each "trio" set there is one neutral, one warm, and one cool-toned brown. There is a large risk for transfer with all six, and the three with glitter have the opportunity to give glitter fallout.
Yes, the also reek of fake chocolate, but it does not taste like that at all. It tastes like how the MUFE lipstick product smells...
They are neither drying nor hydrating, but if I had to pick one, they would be on the drier side, as they can make already dry lips feel more dry, and can accentuate the cracks in your lips if you do not practice proper lip care.
Review for tarte Tartelette Tease Clay Palette - 1 year, 9 months ago
I have a full shade-by-shade review on my FB page \GWilliReviews
The shadows are fairly pigmented and easy to work with. There are 4 mattes, 1 satin, and 1 shimmer. The shimmer shade gave some of the glitter fallout that does just sweep away. All the shades smell of marshmallows and overall, I think it's an OK palette.
Let’s be fair, with only six shades, it’s going to be hard to get above an average rating. That said, it’s extremely likely that you already have these shadows in your collection. This would be a great palette for someone looking for a trip travel buddy that could get through the TSA, or maybe someone who’s new to make up. This is within the realm of “high school - safe” shades, as well as being fairly fool proof. I can also foresee some romantic, wedding day eyes being made up with this product.
