I love trying new makeup but I don't love that most of the beauty bloggers are half my age. I'm hoping to help other women over 40 to find great products at affordable prices that work for our skin, hair and lifestyles. I have a YouTube Channel called "A Study in Silver." I hope you find my reviews and ideas helpful.
As soon as I saw the preview photos of this I knew I had to have it. I'm not usually one for color, but this was so gorgeous and I knew it would be one of Kat's best since it's for the anniversary. I am not disappointed. I didn't find them particularly chalky, and some are really soft and smooth. The colors have more than enough pigmentation for me and a couple are going to take some extra blending because I don't have that much experience with these dark blues/greens. But I'm super excited to wear them. Will add photos when I do a whole eye look with this palette. Can't wait to experiment.
First off, I just love the way this smells. It makes me want to get up in the morning. Very fresh and vibrant and it has a little tingle. It suds up easily and washes clean without my hair feeling stripped and dried. It also smells great all day and makes my wavy hair look nice and bouncy. I wash my hair every 2-3 days and it never feels greasy in between.
Update May 9, 2018. They definitely changed the formula and the new one tastes horrible. I don't even want to use it. The chemical taste is now overpowering the pleasant herbs. I'd pass on this one if taste is important to you.
Original 4-star review... I had only used rinses from the big brands, either with alcohol or without, but I never really liked the taste. This one is great. I like that it's organic and it has natural spices to flavor it. It uses hydrogen peroxide which seems to me to be a lot less harmful to your teeth and mouth than the chemicals in the big name rinses. That helps keep teeth white. I don't find that it makes me teeth significantly whiter, but it does keep them from getting stained from food and drink.
It has a pretty strong but not unpleasant taste. A downside is that if you use it in the morning before breakfast, your food will not taste great. However, I also like to rinse with it in the evening after dinner because it keeps me from wanting to eat anything else.
I like that this product helps whiten as well as helps gums and enamel. I get the gel flavor which is pleasant and not too tingly or overpowering. It does seem to keep my teeth from getting coffee stains, but it doesn't actually make them whiter. I guess it keeps them from getting darker even when I drink coffee or berries. It's a pretty average toothpaste and it's hard to tell if it's doing anything else, but there is nothing to complain about.
I had really high hopes for this product. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. The consistency is like a very thin greasier concealer. It's pigmented but it doesn't blend easily and feels like it sits on top of other products. The green works pretty well for canceling out redness, but neither the lavender or yellow worked on my under eye circles and ended up emphasizing the little lines there.
If you don't have dark circles, this may work for you.

I found this in my Walmart before I heard any buzz about it, last summer and I was so glad I did. I like the idea of nail polish that is supposed to help your nails, and this has the good-for-everything argan oil in it. That makes it smell really nice, actually.
Nice formulas and easy to apply. You don't want to use base coat the argan oil can penetrate to your nails.
I'm a huge fan of this nail polish line from Sally Hansen. Overall the formula is very good and it lasts on my nails for over a week, which was quite a surprise. I love the lilac color but it's a bit more sheer than some of the others and you may end up needing 3 coats, but most of the time 2 is all it takes.
Review for: Check Out The Old Geysirs (iridescent blue grey) more...
OPI really hit it out of the park with the Iceland Collection. I have two good friends who are Icelandic, so when I saw the announcement for this collection, I had high interest, but also high expectations. I love every color. I've got 5 or 6 in the Infinite Shine formula and they are 1-2 coaters.
Check out the Old Geysirs has a bright cobalt blue shimmer that definitely improves with a second coat. The formula is fantastic and the colors are not the usually OPI pinks/reds/same old-same old.
I bought mine at Transdesign.com where they are about $6 for the IS and $5 for the regular lacquer. Half price means I can buy twice as many!!!
I first discovered this item when I lived in Japan. Lots of my Japanese friends mentioned it for coping with walking in heels! I love to get the smaller ones and put one on each heel in the morning and it kind of refreshes and tingles my feet for a few hours. I also put them on just before bed and enjoy how it's kind of like a mini-massage. The smell isn't too strong and I kind of like it, mild menthol-y.
