Hello- after doing everything I shouldn't do for my body and skin for the past 20 years, I have finally woke. I worshiped the sun, drank to much, ate pretty well and exercised a lot. However, within the past 5 years have evaluated my health choices. I try to stay out of the sun and when I do wear SPF. My skin shows signs of aging with sun spots and fine lines. I try to choose beauty products for my family that are safer. I try to exercise more and eat better even tho both are monotonous. Being good is quite boring, and I find happiness in beauty products. I love skin care and makeup like the air I breath. I love finding a regimine that works well for me, then when I get bored, change it up. I learn as I go. I watch beauty bloggers for makeup tips, tricks, dos and don'ts. I came across #influenster mentioned in a beauty blog. I look forward to trying new products and giving a honest review for others.
I bought the Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel as a cheaper alternative to the Cliniqe moisture surge gel and also the Belief Aqua Bomb. I found the product to be very pleasant. Had I not tried the other two expensive alternatives I may have stuck with this moisturizer for a very long time. But as my luck, I find the pricey products do so much more than their cheaper alternatives do. The texture is very nice, cold gel in a cute blue pot. I wish these companies would make this in a tube packaging for sanitary reasons....there is something about dipping your fingers in a pot of product that grosses me out. Even though my fingers are clean, I can't help but feel I am contaminating the whole pot. The smell is very nice, although I hate fragrance in my lotions, I did not mind this one. The lotion dried into my skin very efficiently. I did not feel like a gel monster after I applied it. No sticky residue. No breakouts. Like I said I had I not been spoiled by the other two, I may still be using this to this day. My face seems to have a really expensive pallet.
There is a reason that Estee Lauder double wear foundation is a cult favorite, because this product does exactly what it says it will. No marketing tricks here, just a great product! To start, if you cannot find a color match with all the selections available you are just to picky, or you are picking the wrong foundation shade. I find with some foundations, choose the color below and color above your desired foundation, mix them together equal parts and boom, there you have it, your color. I was color matched by a excellent Estee Lauder makeup artist at a mall kiosk. She glanced at the skin under my chin, poured me two samples (because I already had foundation on) and told me to try both. Both samples were enough to wear a couple times to discover if this foundation was right for me or not. I settled on the lighter of the two shades because I did find (like almost all foundations) it did oxidize and by the end of the day you are a shade darker. The packaging was simple and sleek. The smell was not bothersome to me at all. The foundation itself I find to be of medium consistency. Not to liquid not to thick. Shake that bottle up really well or you will end up with an inconsistent formula. If you do not already know, this is a FULL coverage foundation. No if and or butts, this stuff will cover up the darkest of circles, scars ect. I usually pour out a quarter size or just a little bit more size of foundation for my whole face. What I do like about the packaging is you can put product back into the bottle if you over estimate the amount you need. While a pump applicator is clean and easier, I prefer not to waste of drop of this precious stuff. Many a time I have over poured, or decided I wanted a lighter coverage and put some back. I spread the foundation on my face, and down my chin and a little bit of my neck with a mask brush. I usually spread it on my entire face because it does not dry up quickly. I then use a damp beauty sponge and stipple the foundation into my face. I do not use a primer because quite frankly I have not found one that either doesn't break me out, or doesn't control oil ect as it say it will. If anyone has any recommendations on a primer that actually does what it says it will, without breaking you out, for someone with combination skin, please let me know. I am desperate to find a primer for I have large pores and I really want to fill them in and have a smooth matte look. I love how this stuff dries into a flawless matte finish. No glow here, just a blank canvas to work with for sculpting with bronzer, highlight and blush. I use this on my eyelids as well for a great eye lid primer before I do my eye shadow. The staying power of this stuff is AMAZING, they don't call it double wear for nothing. Yes I still have oil break through depending on my diet. A simple blot of a tissue and poof, back to original application look. This stuff has got me through some LONG days and even at the end of the day I had to use a balm to remove it. I have repurchased this product at least a dozen times. No matter how many other foundations I try I always come back to this one. It was my first high end foundation purchase, while not my last, still my favorite. They say a dupe for this is the Revlon color stay foundation, I have tried it, not even close, but will do in a pinch. I find the Revlon has me oily within hours. I would consider using the BB creamof ELDW for a lighter look during summer time. I may just do that right after I write this review....Ulta here is another paycheck of mine ;) To summarize: full coverage, matte finish, staying power awesome, price on the high end but well worth it. Once you try it, you'll be hooked....
I don't know why, but this product makes me break out every time I use it. I have read so many reviews that stated this product calmed the skin, make their skin feel fresh and hydrated and eliminated blemishes....not this gal. I wake up a oily mess, with small blotches of break out on my face, forehead and neck. I love the smell of this product and wanted to love it, but it is not for me. To bad, it is very expensive.
I have to admit, I totally bought this fragerance during the wrong season. I purchased it during the Sephora bizarre and saved 20% during spring. I think this is more of a winter/fall scent. It is dark and musky and very nice. The first time I put it on I hated it. I was so anxious to see how the perfume smelled I put it on right before bed. Bad idea, made me ill all night. I had to get up during the night and wash it off my wrists because it was all I could smell. I was so bummed out. The next time I put it on, I put it on my wrists and on my bra. As the day wore on, I found myself smelling my wrist because the smell was so alluring. The staying power is incredible. It sort of remind me of Men's Calvin Klein Obsession, but for woman. I'm sorry I am horrible at describing scents. I would suggest definitely buying this one....in the fall however. Maybe during Sephora's sale to save yourself 20%
The favorite part of my of my day is when I hide from my family in my bathroom, lock the door, and pretend I am at a spa. I do not know how I lived without this balm.....it is wonderful, like sleeping babies and soft kittens all in one....
I LOVE the smell of this product, it remind me of a high end spa. After removing my eye makeup, I take about a teaspoon or less of this balm, rub into my balms, raise to my face to take in the aroma and breath deep. I then spread all over my face and neck and my makeup from the day literally MELTS OFF my face. The key to using this product correctly is using the Elemis washcloth they ship with the product to remove the balm. Wet the washcloth with hot water and rinse repeatedly and wash the facial cleanser. There is something about the terry cloth that makes this product work very well.
I also use this balm as a mask in the harsh winter months. I have bought I believe 6 containers of Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm. The best price I have seen is via QVC. I am on the QVC email alert when this product goes on sale. The best deal I have found is buy one get one half off. A jar of the balm lasts me a very long time. I would say 1 1/2 months. I have also used Elemis's Cleansing OIL. I like that product also, it does a great job, but there is something spa like about using the balm.
I bought my Elemis Pro-Collagen marine cream with a bundle I had ordered directly from Elemis. I did not love the Marine cream. I found the fragrance to be way to over powering. I do not care for products that wake me up in my sleep because of the smell. The texture was very smooth. I found the cream sat on top of my skin, did not absorb well, and left me very oily come morning. I did not repurchase, in fact I still have 1/2 a container I will likely use on my elbows :( What I did absolutely love from the bundle of products is the Elemis cleaning balm. O M G....that is for another review.....
Belief Aqua Bomb is the true bomb! I LOVE LOVE this moisturizer. It has the most cooling effect. I use this moisturizer in the morning after washing and toning my face. The smell is very pleasant and light. Not over powering. The texture is smooth like silk. The moisturizer absorbs very nicely into my skin, plumping my large pores to make them smooth and blur. I do find the cooling effect gives me a bit of redness but I do not mind since I apply foundation later in my routine anyway. In fact, I find that I do not need to use a primer as much (unless I'm have a bad pore day). It acts as a pore filling primer on top of adding much needed moisture to my skin. I do use this in rotation with Clinique Moisture Surge as well. I do like both very much, but like the cooling effect of the moisture surge more. I find that water based moisturizers benefit me the most. They don't add more oil to my already oil slick face, they act as a primer, and they absorb very well.
Lets begin with the packaging, really Estee Lauder? As if I did not pay enough for the product that you package it in a plastic bottle, with a awkward dispenser? Horrible packaging and they should replace it with a glass bottle, and a straight dispenser.
The product itself.....game changing. I have been using this serum for a little over 3 weeks now. I apply the serum after exfoliating, washing and toning my face. I do not follow up with additional moisturizer because I feel like I do not need it and want to see what the product alone does for my skin when I finish the bottle vs. in conjunction with other products. The texture is a bit tacky upon application. I put a few drops on the top of my hand and pat into my face. I do not rub the product in because I find I have to use more product, if I stipple or pat it in, it seem to absorb better. I do my entire face, eyes, and down my neck. I think the bottle will last me about one month. I will edit my comment at the end of the bottle to let you know if I repurchase.
What I find completely amazing about the product is how it seems to change the entire texture of my face. I wake up with calm, nourished, hydrated and beautiful skin. Is it worth the nearly $70.00 price tag? Well....I'll let you know.... TBC
I picked up this little miracle in a bottle via the Sephora VIB sale. I have long, thick, coarse and wavy hair. Pretty much a nightmare. Not to mention I have hard water that leaves my hair with mineral build up in it. To combat that I use a clarifying shampoo and try to wash my hair only 2 times a week. I wanted to use a conditioner that would give me the absolute best for my hair when I only apply 2 times a week. With Olaplex No. 3, I have found just that.
I have spent oodles of money on my skin and makeup, without giving much thought to my hair. Not considering the quality of product I use on it. I figured, I don't blow dry or iron my hair very often how much damage could I be doing? The answer, after using this product, A LOT. I read other reviews saying they left the treatment on over night. So I did just that, I wash my hair very well, did not use my usual Its a 10 mask, and towel dried my hair. I sectioned my hair off into 9 different section (remember I said it was long and thick) and applied a nickle size amount to each section. I combed out my hair and let it air dry. The next morning I rinsed my hair out to get the product out and let my hair air dry, and found my hair was just a bit better.
The next time I used the product, I went through all the same steps, but left the treatment in my hair, did not rinse it out. WOW! My hair is like silk. My main concern was to nourish and revive the hair, I was not concerned about how it would turn out if I styled it....However I do think if I used a barrel curing iron on it it would turn out amazing. I think I will get 10 uses out of the bottle before I re-up. Do your hair a favor, treat it to this nourishing treatment.
